EDITING Tables
The most common task you will perform in tables are,
1. Adding a new Row/column.
2. Deleting a new Row/column.
3. Splitting Cells,
4. Merging Cells.
5. Resizing.
1. Change row height and column width.
2. Resize whole table

ADDING A ROW/COLUMN
• Place the cursor in the
row above or below
where you want to be
inserted.
• Click layout tab
• Click the insert above
or insert below in the
rows & columns group.
• A new row will get
inserted.

DELETING A
ROW/COLUMN
1. Place the cursor in the
row/column to be
deleted.
2. Click layout tab
3. Click on the delete
option in the rows & After deletion
columns group.
4. Click the delete Rows
or delete columns
option to delete.

SPLITTING CELLS
1. Splitting cells refers to
dividing a single cell
into multiple cells.
2. Position the cursor in
the cell that you want
to split.
3. Click layout tab.

SPLITTING CELLS
4. Click on split cell option
in merge group. A split cell
dialog box appear.
5. Specify the no. of Rows
or columns.
6. Click ok

MERGING CELLS
1. Merging cells refers to
combining two or more
cells in a row or a
column into single cell.
2. Click and select the cells
of the table to be
merged.
3. Click layout tab.
4. Click on merge cells
option from the merge
group

MERGING CELLS
5. The selected range of
cells is merged into a
single cell.

RESIZE WHOLE table

• Changing the size of the table is easy and


possible using the mouse pointer.
• Click the table
• Rest the pointer on the lower-right corner of
the table until double headed arrow appears,
then drag the table boundary until the table
is the size that you want.

Changing Row height and Column width

1. You can resize the row


and column size.
2. Select rows or columns.
3. Click layout tab.
4. In table group, click on
the properties button, a
dialog box appears
5. Select row or column
tab, specify
height/width.
6. Click ok.
