Chapter 1
Installation Flow
Figure 1-1 shows the ZXSDR B8200 installation flow. The actual installation sequence depends
on the actual condition.
Note
High-voltage power wire, strong magnetic field, strong electrical spark as well as other factors that might
damage the equipment room must be kept away from the equipment room.
Space Requirement
Wall-Mounted Installation
If the ZXSDR B8200 is mounted on a wall or installed in a HUB cabinet mounted on a wall, it
is recommended that a sufficient installation space is reserved to facilitate maintenance, ca-
bling, and heat dissipation, see Figure 2-1.
Note
To facilitate maintenance, it is recommended that the distance between the cabinet base and the
ground is not more than 1.2 m or equal to that between the base of other wall-mounted devices and
the ground. Meanwhile, the top of the cabinet is not more than 1.8 m over the ground.
When several ZXSDR B8200 devices are installed on a wall side by side, the installation
space should meet the following requirements shown in Figure 2-2 for heat dissipation.
Two BBUs are installed side by side without an air The horizontal distance between the two BBUs

tween them and the size of the air deflector plate is
equal to or greater than 200 mm.
Ground-Mounted Installation
If the ZXSDR B8200 is installed in a ground-mounted cabinet such as BC8810 and BC8811,
the distance between the cabinet and the wall must be larger than 100 mm to ensure that
hot air can come out from the cabinet back.

CAUTION
You must transport a cabinet in a packing container.
After the packing container is removed on site, the cabinet must be protected when you
move or store it. For example, when a cabinet is stored temporarily, cushioning materials
must be put under the bottom of the cabinet to avoid direct contact with the ground and sur-
rounding objects.
If a cabinet has to be transported without packing due to environment restrictions, cushion-
ing materials such as foamed plastic and paperboard must be used to protect the cabinet
from scratches.
Do not install the BBU in a closed cabinet or small space where heat cannot be dissipated.
In a closed space, heat keeps accumulating, resulting in a continuous increase in device
temperature.
If the BBU is installed on an indoor wall, do not block the air ducts on neither sides of the
BBU.
Do not block the space on the left and right sides of the BBU to avoid affecting the ventila-
tion effect of the air ducts. Ensure that at least an air duct of 100 mm in width is provided on
each side of the BBU for ventilation.
If the BBU is installed on a gantry, do not block the air inlets and outlets on the left and right
sides of the BBU.
If there are multiple devices installed on a gantry and many cables are laid on both sides of
the gantry, the air inlets and outlets on the left and right sides of the BBU may be blocked.
The cabling should bypass the air inlets and outlets of the BBU. If the cabling near the air in-
lets and outlets cannot be completely avoided, the area covered by the cables cannot ex-
ceed 40% of the total area of the air inlets and outlets.
Do not install the BBU on cabinets without effective air ducts on neither sides.
Some cabinets are designed for the devices whose air inlets and outlets are located on the
front and back sides. Therefore, there is no space for ventilation on the left and right sides of
these cabinets. If the BBU is installed on such a cabinet, it cannot be cooled because its air
inlets and outlets on both sides are blocked. In this case, remove the baffles on the left and
right sides of the cabinet (for some cabinets, the baffles need to be cut off) to ensure that
there are two air ducts of at least 100 mm in width for ventilation on the left and right sides
of the BBU. These two air ducts should be properly connected to the cooling air ducts inside
the cabinet.
Do not install the BBU in an outdoor cabinet that cannot report alarms.
Outdoor cabinets typically use heat exchangers for cooling. However, the internal and exter-
nal circulating fans of the heat exchangers are vulnerable to failures. Therefore, the failure
alarms about the failed fans need to be reported to the NE management system.
If the BBU is installed in an outdoor cabinet, check the cooling capability of the cabinet.
An outdoor cabinet typically uses heat exchangers for cooling, and therefore the cooling ca-
pability of the heat exchangers must match the heat consumption of the devices installed in
the cabinet. If the heat consumption inside the cabinet is too high and heat cannot be fully
dissipated through the heat exchangers, the temperature in the cabinet is excessively high,
causing alarms or device damage.
If the BBU is installed in an outdoor cabinet, do not directly overlap it with a BBU whose air
ducts are opposite to those of this BBU.
For a ZTE BBU, the air for cooling is supplied from the right side and discharged from the
left side. For some BBU devices of other vendors, however, the air for cooling is supplied
from the left side and discharged from the right side. If a ZTE BBU directly overlaps with a
BBU of other vendors, the air ducts are connected in series, that is, hot air discharged from
one device is directly sucked in by the other device, resulting in heat dissipation problems.
Do not directly overlap two BBUs whose air ducts are opposite to each other. If the overlap-
ping installation is really needed, the distance between the two BBUs should be more than
200 mm, and the ZTE BBU should be installed below.
If the BBU is installed in an outdoor cabinet, do not block the air ducts inside the cabinet.
For an outdoor cabinet with the air inlets and outlets on the front side and the back side,
there is space on the top and bottom of the cabinet for circulating ventilation between the
front part and back part of the cabinet. If there are many devices installed in an outdoor cab-
inet and even the positions reserved for ventilation are occupied, cooling air can circulate
only on the front panel of the BBU, but the back panel cannot be cooled. In this case, add an
outdoor cabinet to accommodate some devices.
For the outdoor cabinets of other ventilation types, analyze clearly the way in which the cabi-
nets are ventilated and determine the positions where the BBU cannot be installed.
GPS arrester installation requirements
During BBU installation, do not suspend the GPS arrester.Install the GPS arrester on the
panel of the ventilation subrack.
Blank panel requirements
For a slot without a board installed, insert a blank panel into itto avoid affecting the ventila-
tion effect of the air ducts of the BBU.
Grounding requirements
If the BBU is installed in a cabinet not designed by ZTE, connect the grounding point of the
BBU to the grounding bar in the cabinet or in the equipment room by using a PE cable.
Lightning protection requirements for outdoor dry-contact signals of the BBU
If an outdoor signal line is connected to the BBU, an LPU needs to be installed to protect the
BBU from being damaged by lightning.
To install the BBU in a third-party cabinet, contact ZTE to evaluate risks.
The ZXSDR B8200 is packed in a carton (a tray is added during the transportation).
1. Check the packing box. If the packing box is damaged, contact the transportation company
immediately.
2. Unpack the carton. Verify items as specified in the packing list.
Checking Goods
After checking, both the project supervisor and the customer representative must sign on the
Unpacking and Inspection Report. Both the project supervisor and the customer represen-
tative have one copy of the Unpacking and Inspection Report. The project supervisor must
send the Unpacking and Inspection Report to the local office in seven days.
CAUTION
If the project supervisor finds that there is an item missing, incorrect, or damaged, the project supervisor
needs to fill in the feedback table and report to ZTE.

1. The ETH0/ETH1 interface and TX/RX interface cannot be used at the same time.
The cable routing principle for the ZXSDR B8200 is that power cables and PE cables are routed
along the left side of the cabinet while signal cables (various communication cables) are routed
along the right side of the cabinet.
Wall-Mounted Installation Mode
If the ZXSDR B8200 is installed in a ZXSDR BC8180A cabinet (HUB cabinet) or a ZXSDR
BC8181A cabinet (wall-mounted bracket),
à bend the power cables and PE cables towards left, route them along the left front side of
the cabinet shell, bind them with the cable binding holes, and route them to the PVC ca-
ble trough on the upper left side of the cabinet.
à bend the signal cables towards right, route them along the cabling and ventilation box on
the right side of the cabinet, bind them with the cable binding holes, and route them to
the PVC cable trough on the upper right side of the cabinet.
Integrated Installation Mode
If the ZXSDR B8200 is installed in a ZXSDR BC8810 cabinet or a ZXSDR BC8811 cabinet,
2
à lead in a 16 mm blue/black power cable from the cabinet top, connect it to the input ter-
minals of the external power device and DC power distribution module. Then, lead out
the power cables of all ZXSDR B8200s from the output terminals of the DC power distri-
bution module, and route them along the left side to the PM boards of all ZXSDR B8200
s.
à connect the PE cable to the grounding terminal on the cabinet top, bind it with the 16 mm
2
blue/black power cable, and route them vertically into the PVC cable trough on the up-
per left side of the cabinet.
à bend the signal cables towards right, route them along the cabling and ventilation box
on the right side of the cabinet, bind them with the cable binding holes, route them to the
cabinet top through the cable outlet, and route them to the PVC cable trough on the up-
per right side of the cabinet.
Figure 5-2 shows the ZXSDR BC8810 cabinet top.

Paste the labels that mark the local end and the connected object on the peer end respec-
tively at the two ends of a cable to ensure a correct cable connection.
Route the power cable and PE cable separately from other cables. If the power cable/PE ca-
ble is routed in parallel with signal cables, a parallel distance of over 20 cm is required be-
tween the cables.
Before routing cables, measure the cable length as required and reserve a certain margin.
During cable routing, if the reserved cable length is not sufficient, find a longer cable and
reroute the cable. Making splices or welding is prohibited in cable routing.
Bind cables every 0.8 m to 1.2 m with a cable tie to avoid cable damage caused by friction
among cables. Cut off the surplus cable part, leaving no sharp edge.
Keep cable bendings smooth and round.
Do not bend optical fibers in a right angle. The minimum bending radius for outdoor optical
fibers is 90 mm while the minimum bending radius for indoor optical fibers is 30 mm.
Keep the residual optical fibers in a fiber box. Do not twist optical fibers; otherwise, it may be
difficult to find an optical fiber.
Route cables in accordance with their natural tendency. Make cable bends as fewer as pos-
sible. Route and bind cables with gentle and even force. Keep a distance smaller than 0.5 m
between two adjacent cable ties.
Keep the labels pasted on the two ends of optical fibers clean and tidy.
Steps
1. Connect one end of PE cable A to the left grounding point of the ZXSDR B8200, see Figure
5-5.
2. Connect the other end of PE cable A to the grounding point of the cabinet.
3. Connect one end of PE cable B to the grounding point of the cabinet, and connect the other
end of PE cable B to the indoor protective grounding busbar of the equipment room.
Abstract
In Figure 5-6, the power cable is used for connecting a power supply unit. In Figure 5-7, the
power cable is used for connecting the DC power distribution module when the ZXSDR B8200
is installed in a cabinet.
Prerequisite
Steps
1. Insert the power cable plug into the power interface on the PM board, and secure the two
fixing bolts at the interface, see Figure 5-8.
2. Insert the copper lug at the other end of the power cable into the output terminal of the rele-
vant power supply unit (a DC power supply box outside the cabinet or a DC power distribu-
tion module inside the cabinet).
Connect the blue cable to the –48 V output terminal.
Connect the black cable to the –48 V RTN output terminal.
An transmission cable can be an Ethernet cable or an optical fiber, both of which are mutually
exclusive to each other.
A straight-through Ethernet transmission cable is used to connect the ZXSDR B8200 and trans-
mission equipment. A crossover Ethernet transmission cable is used as an LMT operation and
maintenance cable. This procedure describes how to install an Ethernet transmission cable.
The Ethernet cable is made of super category-5 shielded data cable. Figure 5-9 shows the ex-
ternal view of an Ethernet cable.
Steps
1. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet interface ETH0 on the CC board, see
Figure 5-10.
2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the peer device.
3. Bundle the cable and label it at both ends.
The optical fibers have the following two types, baseband RF optical fibers and transmission
fibers.
In Figure 5-11, end A is a waterproof optical interface (connected to an RRU) while end B is an
LC-type optical interface (for connecting the FS board or baseband processing board of a BBU
).
In Figure 5-12, both ends are LC-type optical interfaces. As a transmission fiber, an optical fiber
is used to connect the ZXSDR B8200 to optical transmission equipment and is mutually exclu-
sive to an Ethernet transmission cable.
This procedure describes how to install a transmission fiber.
Steps
1. Insert the optical module into the optical interface on the board, see Figure 5-13.
2. Insert one end of the optical fiber into the optical module, see Figure 5-14.
3. Connect the other end of the optical fiber to the optical interface of a relevant device.
Abstract
Steps
1. Insert end A of the SA/SE board cable into the SA/SE board interface, and secure the two
fixing bolts at the interface, see Figure 5-16.
2. Connect end B of the SA/SE board cable in accordance with the description in Table 5-1.
Steps
1. Insert end A of the out-of-band clock cable into the EXT interface on the CCE1 board, see
Figure 5-18.
Abstract
A GNSS jumper is used to connect a GNSS lightning arrester to the CC board to provide GNSS
clock input signals for the board.
This procedure describes how to install a GNSS jumper.
Figure 5-19 shows the external view of the a GNSS jumper.
Steps
1. Insert end A of the GNSS jumper into the REF interface on the CC board, see Figure 5-20.
2. Connect end B of the GNSS jumper to the GNSS lightning protector or power divider.
3. Bundle the jumper and label it at both ends.
Cabinet overview 1 Verify that the surface of the cabinet is intact, for example, the bottom of the
cabinet, the gap between stacked cabinets, and the gap between the cabi-
net and the base. If the cabinet has damage, scratches, or paint stripping, the
cabinet must be repaired to avoid corrosion.
Case installation 1 The case installation position satisfies the design requirement, and the case is
installed properly.
2 The equipment outside is clean, without lacquer flaking off. All parts of the
case are in good condition. All labels on the case are correct, clear, and com-
plete.
3 The inside of the case is clean, and the corners inside the case are free from
sundries like metal debris and conducting wires.
4 All screws of the case are secured tightly, and all flat washers and spring
washers are installed in the correct direction.
Cable installation 1 Power cables cannot be connected to each other, and no joints should exist in
one single power cable.
2 All cables are routed flat and straight, without any crossing. The cable bend-
ings satisfy the minimum bending radius requirement.
3 All cable connectors are installed properly, of good contact, and not broken or
bent.
4 The metal terminals of the power cable and PE cable are secured on binding
posts through flat washers and spring washers.
5 The two ends of all cables are pasted with labels that identify the cable func-
