2. What advancements in technology bombard the generation Z learners? Give as many examples.

Technology Describe how it can positively or negatively affect

the Gen Z
Social Media Social Media positively affect the Gen Z because
they are digital natives which they expose in
interacting online and collaborate with others such
as to communicate, to gather information, to play
online games, to create contents, etc. It can also
affect the Gen Z negatively, it may bring danger by
not limiting their self to create new friends and post
contents.
Computers Computers positively affects the Gen Z specifically
when it comes in dealing learning or education. It
can be supplied resources or information for learning
and made education more flexible.
Smart Mobile technologies The positively affect in using smart mobile
technologies is essential when it comes for learning
online, looking for material that we do not
understand on the internet. However, if it has a
negative effect to the Gen Z who are addicted to
using smartphones, cheat on assignments, and lack
of focus in learning.

Cloud Computing The positive effect of cloud computing on gen z is

that in the cloud, applications can be run on the
internet browsers, so schools and students don’t
necessarily have to own pricey computers or laptops.
The negative effect is that it can experience technical
problems like reboots and network outages.

3. How can you effectively interface literature and literacy to internet savvy learners?

Strategy Describe how

Emphasize the importance of critical thinking The majority of the sources we consume today
comes from online sources, some more credible than
others. Of course, the fact that so much information
is so easily accessible to anyone with an internet
connection is a definite plus. However, this means
that today's students are more vulnerable to
subliminal messages, misinformation, and fake news.
With this in mind, a large part of teaching digital
literacy is assisting students in becoming critical
information consumers. Begin by encouraging
students to ask questions, and then seek answers by
going directly to the source and ensuring objectivity.
Learn and collaborate using social media Students today are already active on social media,
and in many cases, they may be more proficient than
their teachers. As a result, rather than introducing
students to the ins and outs of social media, the
emphasis should be on demonstrating how it can be
used in an educational context.
Allow learners to make their own poem using hyper Writing a poem can help students expand their
poetry. vocabulary. They will learn how to incorporate new
words when writing and understand their meanings.
It also stimulates their creative thinking by forcing
their brain to come up with novel ways to form
sentences to create the structure of a poem. Using
hyper poetry allows them to use a computer screen
as a medium. It uses hyperlinks, visual effects, sound
effects, and other digital visual arts.
4. What challenges do you see that literature teachers may be confronted w/ about the Gen Z?

Challenges In what way? Explain why?

Teachers are digital Immigrant Within the K-12 classroom, digital immigrants are
often the teachers or instructors. They may prioritize
face-to-face interactions among students over
implementing technological educational aids. To
teach gen Z, educators need to be familiar with
technology and master digital tools in their teaching
methods. The majority of the new generation of
students report that they learn best by doing as
opposed to listening.
Students have shorter attention span Technology addiction, societal pressure and the
increasing flow of information are to blame for
today's shorter attention spans among students. Use
a student-centered pedagogy to battle short
attention spans. Students in the 21st century do not
have the same attention span as students did 10 or
20 years ago. Educational research has found that
students focus on a single activity from 10-18
minutes, between seven and eight minutes.
Reading is not a habit or culture Ask a gen z on what is their hobby, will maybe most
of them will say vlogging, watching TV etc. It is rare
to have a student whose hobby is reading. A reading
culture is an environment where reading is
championed, valued, respected, and encouraged.
Reading lies at the heart of the curriculum, and it's of
the upmost importance to a child's personal, social,
and academic success, as well as their general
wellbeing.
Online cheating Kids have always found ways to cheat, but the tools
they have today are more powerful than ever. In this
poll, kids reveal that they're texting each other
answers during tests, using notes and information
stored on their cell phones during tests, and
downloading papers from the Internet to turn in as
their own work.
