Purpose of the Environmental Management System (EMS)

The primary purpose of this Environmental Management System (EMS) is to

improve the laundry shop's environmental performance, meet compliance
obligations, and achieve sustainability goals aligned with its strategic vision. This
EMS integrates environmental considerations into all operations, promoting resource
efficiency, sustainability, and stakeholder confidence.

This EMS manual documents the following:

 The laundry shop’s environmental policy.

 Objectives and targets for managing significant environmental aspects.
 Processes and procedures for achieving environmental improvements and
compliance.

Additionally, this manual defines responsibilities, operational controls, and

performance evaluation mechanisms to maintain system integrity and ensure
continuous enhancement.

Definition
The EMS Manual serves as a fundamental document of the environmental
management system, providing a detailed and clear description of the processes and
procedures used to improve the organizations’ environmental performance. Adhering
to ISO 14001:2015 to assess, manage and improve the organizations’ impact on the
environment.

11.1 Practical Implementation

The structure of an Environmental Management System (EMS) Manual
according to ISO 14001:2015 continues to be based on the Plan-Do-Check-Act
model and there is also greater focus on the environmental aspects along the value
chain.
This model/cycle represents both the structure of the EMS manual and the
important steps for implementing, maintaining, and improving the environmental
management system. This cycle focuses on assessing the environmental impact not
only of activities within the organization, but also of upstream and downstream
processes, assessment of environmental impacts, taking the life cycle of products
and services into consideration, and determination of risks and opportunities.
The only section not directly linked to the PDCA cycle is Section II (Context
and General Requirements), which outlines the organization’s structure, context, and
the scope of the EMS. This section provides a foundational understanding of the
EMS framework and establishes the basis for the rest of the manual.
