Materials required-
1. DC motor
2. Switch
3. Battery
4. Glue gun
5. Wooden Board
6. Bottle and bottle caps
7. PVC pipes
Theory-
At the plant level, water flows through a pipe—also
known as a penstock—and then spins the blades in a
turbine, which, in turn, spins a generator. The
mechanical energy created by the flowing water
falling on the generator gets converted to electrical
energy that ultimately produces electricity.
Procedure-
1. First, out of bottle caps make a model of a wheel-
like structure that will act as the runner of our
turbine.
2. Then, out of water-resistant plastic strips make a
frame on a wooden board that will hold our
runner.
3. Fix a DC motor next to the runner and connect it
to the runner via a rubber band.
4. Fix a light bulb on a stand next to the structure.
Now connect the DC motor to the turbine via
electric wires.
5. Now, fix a cut-open water bottle on top of the
runner so that water will fall onto the blades of the
runner if water is poured into the bottle.
Result-
The bulb connected to the DC motor illuminates as
the water falls on the runner.
