Control Panel Overview
Control Panel Buttons & Lights Icon Description
Shows the number counter or error codes, different copy modes (52x/ 54x/ 58x/ 51xx),
issues relating to ink, printheads, or paper, and for network models, the network
connection status.

Start a color copy job. To increase the number of copies, press and hold the button or
press it multiple times.
Copying starts 2 seconds after the last button press.
Start a black-and-white copy job. To increase the number of copies, press and hold the
button or press it multiple times.
Copying starts 2 seconds after the last button press
The ID Copy feature allows you to place a card
or small-size document anywhere on the scanner glass to copy both sides onto the
same page
Stop the current operation.

Resume a job after a disruption (for example, after loading paper or clearing a paper
jam).

Icon Description
Control Panel Display A blinking left icon indicates a problem with the color printhead.
A blinking right icon indicates a problem with the black printhead.

Indicates the side of the card to place on the scanner glass.

Shows the number counter when you are copying documents, changes to the letter A
/ when the printer is doing printhead alignment, and shows the letter E and a number
when the printer is in an error state.
• Blank Document icon: Indicates the status of paper in the input tray or any related
issues (including out of paper, paper jam, and so on).
• Document icon with horizontal lines: Indicates the status of the original on the
scanner glass or any related issues. It also appears when the printer is in the
Document Copy mode, for copying on plain paper.
• Photo icon: This appears when the printer is in the Photo Copy mode, for copying on
photo paper.
Attention light. Indicates an error or warning state.
ST 52x/54x ST 58x/510x ST 21x
Prompts you to open the scanner lid
during printhead alignment or when doing an identification card copy

The KCMY letters and Ink drops are used to indicate status of the four ink tanks in the
printer.
Each set of icons corresponds to an ink tank: black, cyan, magenta, and yellow.
Shows the Wi-Fi status and signal strength.

Indicates the Wi-Fi Direct status.

MacOS users connecting printer using USB cable will not be able to use EWS to change
settings or print reports

Workaround to access EWS:

Correct Wrong
Use case:
➢ User uses redmi mobile to setup printer through HP Smart app
➢ Mobile connected to 5GHz Wi-Fi network
➢ Select 5Ghz SSID and enter the password from HP Smart app
➢ App should show correct message and prompt user to switch
to 2.4GHz network instead of showing wrong message

Workaround:
Connect mobile to 2.4GHz network before setting the printer using HP Smart app
