“Improper Waste Disposal”

(Group 6 Environmental Science)

Overview:

Poor handling, disposal, and treatment of waste materials lead to improper waste
management, a serious environmental issue. This problem includes a variety of actions, such as
improper recycling procedures, improper dumping, littering, and improper landfill management.
In addition to posing harm for a person's health and well-being right away, improper waste
management also leads to pollution, habitat destruction, and long-term environmental
deterioration. In order to address this issue, all-encompassing approaches that emphasize
reducing waste generation, support responsible waste management, and stimulate recycling and
reuse are needed. We can reduce the adverse effects that waste causes to the environment, human
well-being, and the economy while advancing toward a more sustainable future by putting into
practice efficient waste management techniques.

Hypothesis:

Improper waste disposal in our barangay could be: "Implementing a community-wide

education and awareness campaign, along with improved waste management infrastructure, will
lead to a decrease in improper waste disposal practices in our barangay in the short term."
This hypothesis suggests that by educating the community about the importance of proper
waste disposal and providing them with the knowledge and resources to do so, along with
improving the waste management infrastructure in our barangay, we can expect to see a
reduction in the amount of waste that is improperly disposed of in the short term.

Expirementation:

The experimentation plan focuses on a short-term solution to improper waste disposal.

The researcher conducted Assessment to Understand current awareness and identify disposal
problem areas. Education Campaign to Implement workshops and community meetings to raise
awareness, tracking community participation.
Infrastructure Improvement to Enhance waste facilities, monitoring accessibility and
usage.
Data Collection to Regularly measure improperly disposed waste, using surveys to gauge
community attitudes. Establish a community feedback loop for continuous improvement.
Short-Term Evaluation Compare baseline and post-intervention data to assess the effectiveness
of education and infrastructure improvements in reducing improper waste disposal.

Analysis:

The experimentation plan is centered around implementing short-term solutions to

address the issue of improper waste disposal. It begins with conducting assessments to
understand the current level of awareness and identify problem areas related to waste disposal.
This is followed by an education campaign aimed at raising awareness through workshops and
community meetings, with a focus on tracking community participation. Additionally,
infrastructure improvements are proposed to enhance waste facilities and monitor their
accessibility and usage. Data collection methods, including regular measurements of improperly
disposed waste and surveys to gauge community attitudes, are established, along with a
community feedback loop for continuous improvement.Short-term evaluation involves
comparing baseline and post-intervention data to assess the effectiveness of education and
infrastructure improvements in reducing improper waste disposal.

Conclusion:

This highlights the problem of improper waste management, including poor handling,
disposal, and treatment of waste materials. This leads to environmental issues such as pollution,
habitat destruction, and long-term environmental deterioration. To address this problem,
comprehensive approaches are needed that focus on reducing waste generation, supporting
responsible waste management, and promoting recycling and reuse.
The hypothesis suggests that implementing a community-wide education and awareness
campaign, along with improved waste management infrastructure, will lead to a decrease in
improper waste disposal practices in the short term. The experimentation plan outlines the steps
to achieve this short-term solution, including conducting assessments, implementing an
education campaign, improving infrastructure, collecting data, and evaluating the effectiveness
of the interventions.
In summary, the conclusion is that by implementing a combination of education,
awareness, and infrastructure improvements, along with regular data collection and evaluation, it
is possible to reduce improper waste disposal practices and move towards more sustainable
waste management in the short term.
