Modelling
• Model steel left to right/down to up in plan.
• Model column from down to up.
• When modelling columns, ensure that the start point is at the top of the footing so that the
automated HD Bolt marks use the correct level for top of footing.
• All start numbers to be 1 eg Bl / fl/ MPl.
• All Steel grades as follows -
UB, UC, EA, UA, PFC, WT,WC, WB = 300PLUS
SHS, RHS, CHS = C350
Plates= 300PLUS
Purlins /Girts=G450
• All welds to be modelled correctly in model.
• All purlins and girts to be Lysaght
• Model bracing rods full length. Do not break at turnbuckles. Refer example models.
• Lapped purlins need to be modelled opposite rotation for each bay. Eg. Bay 1 rotation BELOW,
Bay 2 Rotation TOP.
• Project North is always up the page and viewed the same as design drawings.
• Cleats for all members to always be on the North or West face. If required on South or East this
needs to be noted on marking plans.
• All 3d views to be created at the ground floor level.
• All bolts to have 2mm tolerance.
• All H.D bolts to have 6mm tolerance.
• Extra length to be added to chemsets bolts to suit embedment requirements.
• All bolts for Ferrules to have 6mm tolerance.
• All purlins / girts to have 18x22 holes.
• Facia bolts to be used for al purlins with wall sheeting.
• All TF bolts to have no paint on contact surface noted on shop drawings
• H.D bolts to be spaced as per attached page 1 unless noted on design drawings.
• Refer to catalogues for Hollow Bolt and Spatec hole sizes.
• All welds to be modelled correctly in model.
• Weld preps not required to be modelled.
• All notches to steel to be in 5mm increments.
• All cleat connections to be as per attached page 2 and 3
Creating Drawings
The Drawing Wizard has been setup for Assembly and Single Part drawings and is based on the standard
set of part names defined above and will warn if the wrong part names used.
