IS 1301 -Communication for Engineers
Continuous Assessment 01 (Take-home task)

Task: Choose an engineering innovation (any field of engineering) and prepare a narrative
presentation/ a video on it.

Time allotted for the video: 10-12 minutes

Date of submission: 23rd November 2024 (11.59 pm)

Procedure:

1. Find your group members from the group list uploaded on the LMS.

2. Choose an engineering innovation (any field of engineering) and prepare a narrative


presentation/ a video on it.

Ex: Artificial Intelligence (AI), 6G, 4D printing, etc.

3. You can use visual aids such as PowerPoint slides, videos, audios and pictures.

4. Follow the guidelines given to organize your narrative presentation/ video.

5. Each student in the group must participate in this team work. Your active participation
must be clearly demonstrated by your video.
6. Record your narrative presentation using Zoom, MS PowerPoint or any other online
resource that you might be familiar with. You have the option to video record your
team work and merge them using apps such as Ice Cream Video Editor, VivaVideo,
InShot, YouCut, VideoShow etc.
7. Your voice and video should be clear and audible.
8. Avoid reading from scripts/ screens. Use the language naturally without hesitations.

9. One group member should upload the video to the LMS on or before the deadline.

• Understand your strengths when dividing the above sections/roles among yourselves.

9. Your reflection on the innovation and its applicability to the Sri Lankan context
10. Conclusion

Evaluation rubric:

Evaluation Criteria Marks (10 marks)

Verbal communication (correct use of grammar/ word choice/ 4


pronunciation/ fluency)
Content (organization and logical flow of information) 4

Creativity (in terms of the video, texts and sounds) 1

Teamwork (equal contribution in the task) 1

Note: Late submissions will be penalized.
