Course Objectives:
Apart from imparting the knowledge of the practical techniques and history of art it is essential to equip the students with the
various thought processes and ideas about the philosophy of Art. This course introduces the students to various approaches to
thinking about art. Efforts will be put to see visual arts as a thinking discipline
Prerequisites:
• Aesthetic sensibility
• Good imagination and analytical skills
• Sensitivity towards arts

By the end of this course, students will be able to
• Evaluate the importance of philosophically understanding art
• Recognize and interpret the deep traditional Indian notions of aesthetics
• React to art more sensitively
• Analyze art not only by looking at its form but also trying to find its emotional appeal and suggested meaning
