EXPERIMENT 4

Aim: To realize Boolean Expression using NAND or NOR logic Gates.


A+A∙B = A
A+B∙C = (A+B) ∙ (A+C)

Learning Objective:
1. To learn to solve Boolean Expression using NAND or NOR Gates
2. To verify the Truth Table.

Components Required:
Digital Trainer circuit, Patch Chords, Connecting Wires, IC Types 7400 Quadruple 2-
input NAND Gates, IC-type 7402 Quadruple 2 input NOR Gates.

Theory: The Basic laws of Boolean are


Absorption Law: A+A ∙ B = A
Distribution Law: A+B∙C = (A+B) ∙ (A+C)

Realization of the above two expressions by using NAND & NOR gates are shown

Implementation of LHS Expression Using NAND Gates Truth Table

Implementation of RHS Expression Using NOR Gates. Truth Table

Procedure:
1. Design the circuit of NAND and NOR gate in the bread board.
2. Switch on the power supply.
3. Observe the output for different combinations of the input.

Result:

Precautions:
1. Identify input & output pins of IC carefully.
2. IC should be connected according to pin configuration.
3. Prepare the circuit before switching on the power supply.
4. Circuit to be checked before switching on the power supply.
