    1. PURPOSE.
    This procedure has been developed to ensure safe handling and use of chemicals / solvents at site.

    2. SCOPE.
    This procedure applies at site for handling and storage of chemicals / solvents.

    3. RESPONSIBILITY.
    Stores in-charge has the responsibility to handle and store all chemicals safely inside store and follow the
    guideline of this procedure.

    4. PROCEDURE STEPS
    4.1 SAFE STORAGE OF CHEMICAL
    1) Chemical must be stored by hazard class (corrosive, flammable, reactive etc.)
    2) Chemical should be stored in a proper manner with following FIFO system.
    3) Good Housekeeping must be practiced in chemical storage.
    4) All chemical containers must be properly labeled with their chemical content, properties, date of
    receipt & date of expiry.
    5) Proper ventilation should be maintained in storage area.
    6) All chemical containers should keep close after use.
    7) MSDS must be available in storage area.

    4.2 SAFE HANDLING OF CHEMICAL


    1) Handle the chemical as per material safety data sheet in presence of supervisor.
    2) Use hand gloves safety goggles, mask & other protective equipment.
    3) Avoid direct contact with chemical to prevent any health hazards.
    4) Never smell, intentionally inhale or taste the chemical.

    4.3 ENVIRONMENTAL INSTRUCTION


    4.3.1 Spillage of Chemical
    1) Control the spillage to avoid spread.
    2) Isolate & Barricade the area of spill.
    3) Clean the area of spill with suitable neutralizing material.

    4.3.2 Disposal
    1) The Disposal of chemical waste as per hazardous waste disposal method.
