Synopsis
This mini project aims to develop a basic radar system using an Arduino microcontroller. The radar
will utilize ultrasonic sensors to detect and measure the distance to objects within its range. By
analyzing the time it takes for the ultrasonic waves to travel to the object and return, the system can
determine the object's distance.
Components
- Breadboard
- Jumper wires
2. Measurement: Send an ultrasonic pulse and measure the time it takes to receive the echo.
3. Calculation: Calculate the distance based on the measured time and the speed of sound.
4. Display: Output the measured distance to a serial monitor or other display device.
Applications
- Proximity sensing: For triggering actions based on the presence of objects (e.g., opening doors).
- Level measurement: For tanks, bins, or other containers to monitor liquid or solid levels.
- Distance measurement: For various applications requiring accurate distance measurements.
Advantages
- Easy to implement: The project involves basic electronics and programming skills.
Disadvantages
- Limited range: Ultrasonic sensors typically have a shorter range compared to other radar
technologies.
- Affected by environmental factors: Factors like temperature, humidity, and wind can influence the
accuracy of measurements.
- Difficulty in detecting small or fast-moving objects: The system may struggle to detect objects that
are small or moving quickly.
