Ex2/ Unit 7:

The three pie chars comapare information about the proportion of US music album sales divided into five
genre: jazz, alternative, country, rock and R&B from 2008 to 2010.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readiliy apparent that music genres seem to have changed little
over the three years. Rock music is the most popular music among Americans, followed by Alternative
and R&B from the beginning to the end. Rock and country were the least popular over three years.
In 2008, Rock was the most popular music genre, accounting for 39% of sales. This data remained until
2009, then it increased to 49% in 2010, which doubled the statistics for Alternative music albums. This
trend contrasts with the sales share of Alternative music. The proportion of Country album was seen a
slight increase from 13% in the first year of the recording to 16% in 2019 and lastly hit 18% in 2010.
There was a downward trend in the data of American who listend to R&B music. Although it is remained
and unchanged in the first two years of the period, but the figure decreased rapidly to 19% in 2010. The
same thing happened with Alternative album sales, which started 2008 at 23%, second only to Rock.
However, two years later it dropped 3% to 20% and remained there until the end of 2010, accounted for
1/5 of market turnover in all three years. Additionally, there was no change in the percentage of Jazz
album sales between 2008 and 2010. This music genre took up the remaining 3% of total sales during the
period. This also proves that this is the least known music genre in the United States.
Ex1/ Unit 7 (homework):

The pie charts illustrate the reasons why tourists in Great Britain vistied art museums in over 10-year
period.
Overall, it can be seen that the percentage of the purpose for visting museums such as to learn and gain
knowlegde, to fill their travel schedules and other reasons slightly decreased over the decade, while the
opposite was true for the data of other three causes. Besides, people visiting art museums for the reason of
learning and acquiring knowledge accounted for the highest proportion in the whole period.
In 1990, the figure for travellers learn and asbsorbs knowlege contributed to 44%, making it the most
common reason. However, its date decreased by 1% over 10 years, reaching 45% and still continue to be
the major reasson. The second most popular reason was to fill their travel schedules, with a percentage of
27%, but it fell to fifth place in 2000, only 12% of vistiors citing it as their reason for visiting. The
proportion of spending time with friends and family and taking part in a special exhibit made up 12% in
the fisrt year of period. During the following 10-year period, they both tended to increase significantly, by
17% and 18% respectively.
By constrast, buying art and others were the known reasons and they were not main purpose for people
visting the art museum. The percentage of buying art only include 1% in 1990, then the figure saw a
slight growth to one in twenty in 2000. While there is a tendency to the contrary with others factor, its
data from 4% fell down to 3% in 10 years.
