COURSE OUTLINE

SIT 385 System Administration – 42 Hours


Pre-requisite:
SIT 250 Database Systems
SIT 230 Computer and information Security

Purpose of the Course


The course helps candidates achieve mastery in seven fundamental fields: server architecture
(configuration and support of server components), server administrations (managing and
maintaining servers), storage (supporting storage devices), security (physical and network
security techniques), Networking (Configuring servers)

Expected Learning Outcomes of the course


At the end of the course unit, the student should be able to:
i. Install, support, and maintain servers or other computer systems
ii. Plan for and respond to service outages and other problems.
iii. Script or do light programming, project management for systems-related projects
