ASSIGNMENT I

PAUD4105 Bahasa Inggris

Name : Rosmaida Sitanggang

NIM : 877670757

1. Could you please introduce yourself and provide a brief overview of your personal
background, including your education and any significant experiences?

I am Rosmaida Sitanggang. I am 39 years old now. I love children and that is why I don’t
mind teaching in a kindergarten school. Yes, as my daily activity, I teach in a kindergarten
school. I am a dorm teacher. I also teach English. I have graduated from English Department.
For that reason, the headmistress trusts me for teaching English. I have attended a seminar
about “Kurikulum Merdeka’. It has helped me for preparing my teaching, teaching in the class,
and making reflection after I teach.

2. What are some of your hobbies and interests that have shaped who you are today?

Two things that I mostly like to do is reading and hiking. My husband and I have the same
interests. Since we love reading, we always spend some money monthly to buy new books.
So far, we have more than 300 books and comics. It doesn’t mean we have finished all the
books. By reading books, I can gain more knowledge and some techniques for giving fun
learning in the class. Hiking is tiring hobby but we often do it together when we have three or
four days off. On our hike, we also camp. Hiking and camping help me to be brave and not
to be easy to give up. It gives a lesson that when we want to achieve so0mething, the process
is very important.

3. Looking ahead, what are your aspirations and goals, both in your personal and
professional life, that you would like to achieve in the coming years?

Money takes a great role to achieve something. If I had a lot of money, I’d like to establish a
special school for ‘special children’. This idea came when I read about a rule form the
government said that formal school must accept ‘special children’. According to me, this will
not help the children, the teachers, and the schools. The teachers of the formal school have a
lack of ability to teach ‘special children’. They will mostly spend their attention to the normal
children so ‘the special children’ will not get good opportunity as the normal children. The
need of special students is different to the normal children. By having special school for special
children, I believe it could help them how to adapt their lives in the surrounding environment.
The lesson will not about knowledge but how to live properly. If we don’t treat special children
correctly, they will not be able to have better lives in their future.

4. Could you describe the dynamics within your family and how these dynamics have
influenced your upbringing and personal development?

We were born in 1980s. This made our childhood far from instant things. We rarely met
internet connection and of course, Wi-Fi. Technology develops time to time and new
inventions show up. Whether we want it or not, time keeps moving and new things will appear.
When we were children, we had no idea about getting information easily like today. Today’s
life is different to when we had as children. Laptop is an urgent need for working and android
cellphone is a-must-have-thing. Laptop and cellphone are the things that I must have. If I
don’t have them, my job will not be done quickly. Having these cost me a lot of money. I had
to save money to buy them. For I know, my work depends on these gadgets. There are some
impacts about using gadget. So far, I never put away my cellphone. I am afraid that I will be
left behind if can get any information that I can get from the cellphone. To get internet
connection, I have to spend more money. I have to pay my Wi-Fi bill at home and internet data
for cellphone net-connection. As my conclusion, I spend more time holding my gadget than
having time together with my partner (family time is lesser.)

5. How do you perceive the role of your family in shaping your values, beliefs, and
relationships with others?

As I have married, there are unwritten rules that bound my husband and I. Communication is
the major point to establish a good family. By knowing the role as a husband and a wife, we
positively know how to act. We often talk about the things that happen at our work. By sharing,
we understand our role to each other. By sharing, we can have a healthy family life even if we
talk about unimportant things. There’s nothing to hide. This also takes a good role how we
have relationship with others. We know the limit. Partners of working will always stay the
same. We believe each other when we are at working place.
6. What kind of support system does your family provide during challenging times, and how
has this support impacted your resilience and well-being?

There are two kinds of supports; i.e. physical and moral support. Economy management takes
important role in family spend. We both work so we have our own salary monthly. However,
we have salary, there is a time when one of us need more money to have something or to bills.
We always save some of our salary for unwanted situation that we may face. So, if one of us
need more money to pay something, we support it by giving the money. As in my case, I am
now studying in “UT”. This causes me to spend more money beside the main need. If I have
problem about the college bills, I am helped. Moral support happens when I feel down or tired
of the daily routine. When this happens, my husband usually encourages me. He often asks
me out awhile to refresh body, mind, and soul. If there are four off days, he often asks me to
do things we like as hiking, camping, riding around, etc. My husband sometimes does
massaging. I can say that supporting each other keep us in a good mood.

7. Could you describe your current home environment, highlighting its key features and the
feelings it evokes for you?

We have been marrying for about 8 years. Still, we haven’t got any children. At a time, we
feel upset about this condition. We have been to a doctor but the cost was too much so we
stopped. Today, we don’t take to much concern about having children. We feel that if we have
a great expectation for it but it doesn’t happen, it positively disappoints us much. So, we just
go to the place where the wind blows. We flow and flow and flow. Beside that, we thank God
that today we haven’t got children. We can do our interest and hobby without any hesitation.
We can arrange it at anytime we want. We keep some dog pets to accompany us at home. We
are quite happy with the life we have today.

8. Describe a significant memory or experience associated with your residence that has left
a lasting impact on your life!

I was living in Jiwa Besar District in Tasikmalaya. The house of my parents was close to the
neighbor’s house, the right, the left, and the back side. For this reason, our family had good
relationship with our neighbor. We often had conversation in the afternoon when we had spare
time. Having good relationship made a good mutual advantage. When we were in need, our
neighbor would help us. It happened vice versa. The culture of helping each other becomes
one my life culture. I will help my friends at work when they need my help. In return, when
I ask for help, anyone comes and help me. Beside that, we had a small business. It was
Playstation rental. Mostly, the consumers were children. They were vary in their characters.
This situation helped me understand many kinds of character. I personally knew them about
90%. From them, I learnt how to communicate to a different person. It helps me working as
a teacher to communicate with different kinds of children in the school.

9. How have you personalized your living space to reflect your personality and interests,
and why is this important to you?

I’m a little bit introvert person. Having personal space is a must for myself. I have to have a
time as ‘me time’. By having ‘me time’, I can manage myself from having stressful life. In
‘me time’, I always do things that I like to do the most such as doing my hobbies and interests.
While I am having my ‘me time’, I personally don’t want others interrupting it. That includes
my husband. However, when ‘the me time’ is needed to be done both of us, I will surely
arrange it for the goodness of us. The aim is to make ourselves feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Having private space is important. The goal is to avoid the feeling of stress and burnout. After
a week of working, we may feel exhausted. This causes uncontrollable emotion. Personal
space is needed to avoid of being too emotional and sentimental. This helps me walk through
the days I am on.

10. Describe your home's role in providing you with a sense of belonging and a place of refuge
from the outside world!

I am a housewife. So, making home comfortable is my job. It doesn’t mean that my husband
does nothing. He helps me. I like staying at home rather than going out. For that, I have to
make myself feel comfortable at home. I am a moody person. One at a time, I have to
redecorate my home. By doing that, I may do redecoration 4 times a month. If I feel
comfortable, I can do my work at home happily. Therefore, I can do my work fast. Beside
redecorating, I have to make sure all parts of the house clean. I do house cleaning. Comfortable
clean house can boost my mood. This will make me love staying at home more and more.
Beside redecorating and cleaning the house, I manage the food at home especially snack. We
often eat snack while we are working. I have to know what snack that suits with our need and
want. I have to have conversation with my husband to decide the snack that I am going to
provide for both of us. Doing work and eating snack at the same won’t let me be away from
home. As a conclusion, I spend more time staying at home than going out. I can say that home
sweat home.
