Introduction to Modals

Modal verbs are auxiliary verbs that modify the meaning of the main verb. They express ability, permission, obligation, necessity, possibility, and
advice. The most commonly used modals are:

• Can / Could: Ability, permission, possibility.

• Must: Necessity, obligation, deduction.
