Shannon Davey’s Personal Leadership

Perspectives Development Plan

INTRODUCTION
As a seasoned 1st-grade teacher and the grade level leader of a dynamic team of 10 educators,

I have established myself as a collaborative, antigravitational, and authentic leader (Dann, 2022, p.

10). These qualities have been instrumental in fostering a positive and innovative teaching

environment. However, recognizing the evolving demands of my role and future aspirations to

become a curriculum director for the district, I aim to further enhance my leadership capacity by

focusing on the perspectives of "Being Systems-Minded," "Being Reflective," and "Being Results-

Oriented" (Dann, 2022).

The trajectory of my career involves transitioning into a more strategic role where I can

influence curriculum decisions and contribute to the broader educational framework within the

district. Success in these endeavors requires a comprehensive leadership approach that aligns with the

intricacies of educational systems and demands continuous self-reflection and a results-oriented

mindset.

LEADERSHIP PERSPECTIVE GOAL 1 - Being Systems-Minded

 Goal: Develop a holistic understanding of educational systems and their interconnectedness

within the district's curriculum framework.
 Why: To contribute meaningfully to district-wide curriculum decisions, it's essential to
comprehend the broader educational context and how decisions at the district level impact
classrooms and student outcomes.
 Resources: Engaging with district curriculum development experts, attending training on
systems thinking in education (Dann, 2022).
 Actions: Conduct analyses of the district's overall curriculum structure, actively seek input
from teachers across different grade levels when proposing curriculum changes.
 Measurement: Evaluate the effectiveness of district-wide curriculum decisions in addressing
broader educational goals and ensuring a cohesive curriculum across grade levels.

LEADERSHIP PERSPECTIVE GOAL 2 - Being Reflective

 Goal: Cultivate a habit of continuous self-reflection to enhance learning and adaptability in

the dynamic field of education.
 Why: The ability to learn from experiences and adapt is crucial in navigating the evolving
landscape of education.
 Resources: Establishing regular feedback loops with fellow teachers, engaging in curriculum-
focused professional development and peer mentoring (Dann, 2022).
 Actions: Regularly reflecting on the effectiveness of teaching strategies, seeking feedback
from fellow teachers, and adjusting approaches based on lessons learned.
 Measurement: Assess personal growth in educational leadership effectiveness through self-
evaluations and feedback from colleagues and administrators.

LEADERSHIP PERSPECTIVE GOAL 3 - Being Results-Oriented

 Goal: Develop a results-oriented mindset to drive educational outcomes and align curriculum
decisions with measurable success.
 Why: Aspiring to the role of curriculum director requires a focus on achieving tangible results
and positive impacts on student learning.
 Resources: Collaborating with data analysis experts, attending workshops on outcome-driven
curriculum development (Dann, 2022).
 Actions: Setting clear, measurable objectives for curriculum initiatives, regularly reviewing
and analyzing educational outcomes.
 Measurement: Tracking improvements in student performance, evaluating the success of
curriculum changes through data-driven assessments.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, this personalized leadership development plan is crafted to propel my growth

as an educational leader by expanding beyond my current strengths. By focusing on being systems-

minded, reflective, and results-oriented, I am confident in my ability to not only navigate the

complexities of curriculum development but also contribute significantly to the district's educational

objectives. Through gritty determination and a targeted approach to these perspectives, I aim to

elevate my leadership impact in shaping the future of education within our district.
