Smoking should be banned in public places. Do you agree with this statement?

On the one hand, cigarettes contain harmful chemicals that can cause injurious for injury to
health. Active smokers can also suffer from various diseasediseases such as lung cancer and heart
problems, which can even lead to death. Moreover, smoking in public areas may contribute to
environmentenvironmental pollution. Tobacco smoke is also a major factor cause ofcausing
climate change. For example, in Viet NamVietnam, tobacco-related diseases are the leading
cause of mortality, accounting for approximately 40,000 deaths each year.
On the other hand, smoking is a complete waste of money, and addiction to smoking sometimes
leads to hooked onaddiction to other formforms of illegality . Eventually, many addicted people
get involved in different types of crimes to manage the money they need to abuse illegal
substances. It also causecauses serious effect towardeffects on vulnareble groups , especially
pregnant women, senior citizens, and children. Smoking in public should be banned as it leads to
annoyance to a large extent.
Some people feel that entertainers such as film stars, pop musicians or sports stars are paid
too much money.Do you agree or disagree? Which other types of job should be highly paid?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or
experience.

You should write at least 250 words.

Entertainers and celebrities have a substantial salary compared to other occupations. From this
undeniable ,fact some people stated that they are paid too much and it is not fair enough for other
jobs. I will address my opinion from this text.
Firstly, it is true that celebrities have paid in high amount for their present. As we all
acknowledge this job requires many specific talents and times. From my point of ,view I
disagree that they are paid too much since they have to sacrifice their time and energy for
entertainment. We do not stand on the same ideology therefore it is understandable for someone
to have a negative view of entertainers. Their duties are to make us enjoyable and relaxed while
they have to stress how to entertain us. Thus, I genuinely respect their responsibility and that is
why they are highly paid.
On the contrary, there are many occupations that should be paid highly as well. It is a fact which
is undeniable that teachers and professors are highly paid compared to the stars. To be ,honest I
think that teachers are one of the most crucial factors in developing the youth, therefore, we
should concentrate more on this respectful job. I really admire how they are treated and still do
their best for teaching, this should be an abundance of reasons why teachers should be highly
paid.
To summarize all of my statements, I disagree that the stars are paid too much since they have to
spend all of their time entertaining us. While I also respect the teaching job, this should be one of
the high-paying jobs since their duty is to create a quality youth for growing into modern society.
School uniforms must be compulsory. How farr do you agree with this statement?
It is true that all students must be made to wear school uniforms. In my opinion, I agree that
students should wear school uniforms because of the following rearonsreasons.
Firstly, the main reason why students should wear school uniforms is that it promotes equality.
When everyone wears the same attire, regardless of their background or financial status, it
eliminates visible distinctions based on clothing brands or styles. For example, schools in
Vietnam, such as Tran Phu School in Hanoi, often enforce wearing uniforms. Therefore, students
will be able to study in a comfortable environment and feel that they are inpart of the same group
as the rest of the school.
Secondly, it is undoubtedly cost-effective for parents. Instead of purchasing a variety of outfits
for school, parents only need to invest in a few sets of uniforms, which are often more affordable
and durable. This reduces the financial burden on families, especially those with multiple
children attending school. Moreover, uniforms can help students focus better on their studies.
With a standardized dress code in place, there are fewer distractions related to fashion or
appearance. This allows students to concentrate more effectively during class.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that students should wear school uniforms to create a balanced
environment that fosters both unity and individuality.
Some universities offer online courses as an alternative to classes delivered on campus. Do
you think this is a positive or negative development?
On the one hand, this way of learning online without having frequent in-person interactions with
teachers in the classroom can adversely affect students in two aspects. First, online students
cannot develop as comprehensively as other students who attend classes at school do. During
online courses, students can barely expand their network or have a competitive relationship with
their peers. This is often linked to the fact that those learners seem to undervalue the significance
of interaction and rivalry with classmates in an educational environment which, actually, are
great stimuli for scholastic success. Second, participants of online learning programs tend to
procrastinate and not show a firm commitment to their studies at school. This form of studying
requires tremendous self-discipline as well as organization and time management skills while
students usually struggle with balancing their coursework and other priorities and easily get
demotivated without direct guidance from instructors.
On the other hand, online learning proves to be a wiser choice when it comes to the variety of
courses provided. Indeed, access to all resources of a traditional course is offered, which allows
learners to freely choose a wide range of different subjects, from science to economics.
Furthermore, affordable costs and the widespread presence of the Internet allow unlimited
numbers of participants regardless of not only their financial background but also geographical
barriers.
It is the responsibility of schools to teach good behavior in addition to providing formal
education. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Many people believe that schools should also be responsible for teaching good behavior to
students, in addition to their academic curriculum. This essay will argue in favor of this
viewpoint, highlighting the importance of nurturing positive behavior, fostering a supportive
learning environment, and preparing students for future success.
Incorporating good behavior education into the school curriculum can have a significant impact
on the overall learning environment. A positive atmosphere, where students feel respected and
valued, is essential for fostering academic success. When students are taught to behave
responsibly and respectfully, they are more likely to engage in productive and collaborative
learning experiences, helping them to develop essential teamwork and communication skills.
Moreover, a positive learning environment also encourages students to take ownership of their
learning and strive for continuous improvement, ultimately enhancing their academic
performance.
Teaching good behavior in schools is not only beneficial in the immediate school environment
but also plays a crucial role in preparing students for future success. The skills and values
acquired through good behavior education, such as respect, empathy, and responsibility, are
transferable to various aspects of life, including personal relationships, work, and community
involvement. By equipping students with these essential life skills, schools can help them
navigate the challenges and opportunities they will face in adulthood, ultimately fostering well-
rounded, successful individuals who can contribute positively to society.
In conclusion, I fully agree that schools should indeed take responsibility for teaching good
behavior alongside formal education. By nurturing positive behavior, fostering a supportive
learning environment, and preparing students for future success, schools can play a pivotal role in
shaping well-rounded individuals who can make a positive impact on the world.
Giving children homework everyday
Advantages: Be forced to work independently away from the environment of schools →
proactively apply the knowledge that they have learnt in the classroom → think individually and
creatively in correspondence to a particular task → develop an independent study habit →
prepare them to work alone as adults.
Have home assignments completed multiple times on a daily basis → serve as an additional
practice and revision of the lesson taught to them in the school → retain information more easily
→ reduce the exam stress considerably.

Disadvantages: Have an obligation to complete the homework while having to deal with an
excessive load of knowledge at their school + constant examinations → sacrifice their sleep to
meet academic demands → exhaust the child + reduce their interest in school studies → suffer
from depression.
Return home with excessive amounts of homework → reduce children’s after-school time for
other extracurricular and leisure activities → unable to develop necessary soft-skills
Học môn khác
Learn art-related subjects from institutions => enjoy learning through enjoyable and
creative methods => enhances fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and problem-solving
skills => assists children in attaining better learning outcomes.
Be more interested in non-academic subjects => get hands on experience in these subjects at
an early age => give students a platform where they can develop and perfect their artistic
skills => become easier for them to pursue their creative career in future.
Be already burdened with a regular academic curriculum => (perform art) enhance that
study load => decrease their academic results.
Be of the mindset that art has no participation in the advancement of human society => be
generally considered as a hobby rather than a professional field => opt for other vocational
subjects such as science or commerce stream, which have jobs available in abundance.

Studying abroad
Advantages: Experience a completely different way of living. Ex: try exotic foods and learn
about traditions unique to the host culture => more knowledgeable, open-minded and tolerant =>
become a global citizen of the 21st century
Grant students the opportunity to completely immerse oneself in a new language => receive
considerable language practice => see significant improvements in language proficiency

Disadvantages: Might struggle to integrate into local opportunities + Lack the emotional support
of family => Suffer from social isolation, loneliness, and homesickness => More likely to
develop mental health issues such as depression and anxiety
Have to factor in flights, accommodation, travel expenses, and living costs => Otherwise: the
price of a year abroad can escalate without you realising. => exacerbate financial stress
Parents put pressure on students
Advantages: Teach students about hard work + encourage them to try harder in life => develop
good personality traits in later life (perseverance)
Good academic results => higher chance of getting into good universities => improve future
career projects

Disadvantages: Encourage their children to acquire an occupation that they do not have passion
for => (children) not express their own ideas and desires => not feel the real sense of job
satisfaction => have an undesirable life.
Engage their children only for future achievements + omit the entertainment part of the
youngsters => (children) be exposed to great stress => affect their mental wellbeing and cause
psychological suffering.
University education should be free to everyone, regardless of income. To what extent do
you agree or disagree?
On the one hand, it is true that there are several benefits that students can reap from receiving a
free education. In fact, when the government pays for students' education, it means that all
students have equal education opportunities. This can attract low-income students and enable
unprivileged students to obtain higher paying jobs after graduation. As a result, it can make
greater contributions to the national economy, and therefore poverty would evaporate quickly. In
addition, allowing poor students to spend time studying also minimizes the amount of time spent
on unproductive and harmful activities. Thus, it can prevent the development of social issues
among children
However, I still argue that it is not feasible to provide a free education for everyone. As for the
first drawback, since the government has to provide financial support for a booming student
population, the money being spent on each individual drops to a historic low. This results in
compromised standards of education and the education ultimately fails to produce outstanding
graduates. Moreover, making education free for children means that the government has to cover
a variety of expenses, such as salaries for professors, textbooks for students, modern classroom
equipment… This may drain the state budget and deplete the resources for other sectors.
Social media has become an indispensable part of our lives, allowing us to connect with
friends, share experiences, and discover new information
The rise of social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter has fundamentally
changed the way we communicate and interact with others.
Social media provides a platform for individuals to express themselves, share their thoughts and
opinions, and engage in meaningful discussions on various topics.
One of the advantages of social media is its ability to connect people from different parts of the
world, fostering global friendships and cultural exchange.
Social media has significantly impacted the way businesses operate, providing new opportunities
for marketing, advertising, and customer engagement.
Negative
Social media platforms have become a breeding ground for cyberbullying and online harassment,
highlighting the need for stricter regulations and increased awareness.
Privacy concerns are a significant issue on social media, as users must carefully manage their
personal information and be cautious about sharing sensitive data.
On the one hand, there are a number of benefits from using social networks to communicate.
Firstly, they facilitate communication in the modern times as now people can globally connect
with old friends and relatives or with others who share common interests. For example, Facebook
is currently providing service for 2.4 billion users who can choose to connect and interact with
anyone they want, regardless of where they are. Secondly, study sessions are frequently
happening on social networking websites through live streaming services. Therefore, learners
around the world now can have free access to online classes on such sites.
On the other hand, the disadvantages of social media replacing face-to-face interaction are much
more concerning. As these sites are becoming more and more dominant and attract large numbers
of new users every day, people can fall prey to online communication abuse, such as online
bullying and harassment. In fact, social networking websites can become a toxic environment
where users can be verbally assaulted because there are only a few rules, most of which are
spoken rules rather than established guidelines, that restrict hateful or abusive contents.
Furthermore, overuse of social media to communicate can lead to people downplaying the
importance of face-to-face interaction on which true human relationships thrive. Nowadays,
many young and reclusive users prefer living in a virtual world on social sites than engaging in
real-life relationships. This may have serious mental effects, such as increased stress, anxiety and
loneliness.
Pollution and other environmental problems are resulting from a country's development
and becoming richer. Some think this cannot be avoided. To what extent do you agree or
disagree?
I strongly disagree with this view and believe that environmental problems can be avoided by
richer nations as they can use their resources to counteract their negative effects on the
environment.
Firstly, it's essential to understand that development and environmental conservation are not
mutually exclusive. With proper planning, development can take place in a way that is
sustainable and does not harm the environment. Countries can invest in renewable energy sources
like wind and solar power, which do not contribute to pollution or climate change. For instance,
some countries have made significant investments in wind energy over the past few decades. This
investment in wind energy has not only reduced these countries’ reliance on fossil fuels but has
also created thousands of jobs and helped them become a leader in the renewable energy
industry.
Moreover, there are several steps that can be taken to reduce pollution and environmental
degradation. Countries can introduce strict regulations on industries that contribute to pollution,
encourage the use of public transport, and promote recycling and waste reduction. These
measures can significantly reduce the environmental impact of a country's development and help
preserve the environment. One example is Singapore's efforts to improve air quality. Singapore
has introduced strict regulations on industries that contribute to air pollution, such as power
plants and factories, and has implemented measures to reduce traffic congestion and encourage
the use of public transport. As a result, Singapore's air quality has significantly improved over the
past few decades.
Some people think climate change has a negative impact on business, while others think
that it provides more business opportunities. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
On the one hand, those who argue that climate change has a negative impact on business point to
the increasing costs associated with implementing measures to mitigate the effects of climate
change. For example, businesses may need to invest in more expensive technology to reduce their
carbon footprint or adapt to changing weather patterns. This can increase the cost of production
and reduce profits. In addition, extreme weather events, such as hurricanes and droughts, can
disrupt supply chains and cause financial losses. For instance, Hurricane Katrina, which was one
of the deadliest and costliest natural disasters in US history, caused widespread damage to
offshore oil and gas facilities and disrupted the transportation of oil and gas across the region.
On the other hand, there are those who argue that climate change provides new business
opportunities. To illustrate, the shift towards renewable energy sources creates a demand for new
technology and infrastructure. This can create jobs and stimulate economic growth. In addition,
businesses that adopt sustainable practices can benefit from a positive public image and increased
customer loyalty. Additionally, nowadays, as more people become concerned about the impact of
buildings on the environment, there is a growing demand for green building technologies and
services. Therefore, this has created new business opportunities for architects, engineers,
contractors, and suppliers who specialize in sustainable building practices.
Governments should make more effort to promote alternative sources of energy. To what
extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
In the modern era, sources of energy have hugehold immense importance in every sector of
society such as, including agriculture, industry, and so onbeyond. Some people agrueargue that
governments should encourage greater usage of alternative sources of energy over traditional
ones. I strongly agree with thethis view because offor the following reasons.
On the one hand, the burning of fossil fuels for energy production is a major contributor to
climate change and environmental degradation. Alternative sources of energy, such as solar or
wind may lower fewer greenhouse gas emissions and exhibit a significantly reduced ecological
footprint. By promoting these sources, governments can mitigate the process of climate change
and work towards a more sustainable future for the planet. For example, in Vietnam, the
government is supporting the installation of solar panels on rooftops in urban areas. This
initiative not only reduces household electricity bills but also contributes to the overall cutting of
carbon emissions.
On the other hand, promoting alternative energy sources can stimulate economic growth and
create jobs. The renewable energy sector has expreciencedexperienced rapid growth in recent
yearyears, providing environment oppotunitiesopportunities in manufactoringmanufacturing,
installation , research, and development. By encouraging investment in renewable infractructure,
govermentsinfrastructure, governments can foster entrepreneurship and innovation while
significantly addresingaddressing unemployment and boosting economic productivity.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that govermentsgovernments play a crucial role in promoting
alternative energy to address climate change, enhance energy security, and stimulate economic
growth. ByIn this way, we can create thea sustainable life for future generationgenerations.
Một số giải pháp cho các vấn đề môi trường:
- Governments should introduce laws to limit emissions from factories
- Governments also need to invest in renewable energy from solar, wind or water power
- Governments should widely promote recycling through big campaigns
- Individuals should also try to recycle as much as possible
- Taking public transport is highly recommended instead of driving
- People should choose products with less packaging

Exploitation of natural
Causes
- Fossil fuels are highly beneficial to the rapid growth of worldwide industries.
- Alternative sources of energy such as solar and wind power demand a great volume of funds
and investments.
- Humans are also cutting down trees to make space for residential complexes and multiplexes.
Problems
- Some devastating effects of deforestation include soil erosion, an increase in greenhouse gasses
leading to global warming, loss of biodiversity, increased flooding, and drought.
- Habitat destruction is one of the primary reasons why species of plants and animals are being
endangered, or worse, extinct.
Solutions
- Create sustainability programs that aim to educate people about the importance of conserving
natural resources.
- Protecting wetlands and coastal ecosystems
Deforestation
Causes
- Overpopulation too directly affects forest covers, as with the expansion of cities, more land is
needed to establish housing and settlements.
- Many industries in petrochemicals release their waste into rivers, which results in soil erosion
and make it unfit to grow plants and trees.
Problems
- The loss of trees allows for flooding, soil erosion, desertification, and higher temperatures to
occur more rapidly and exponentially.
- When trees are cut down, the flow of water is disrupted, and the soil loses its ability to retain
water. It leads to floods in some areas and droughts in others.
- Deforestation leads to a huge loss of biodiversity. Forests not only provide habitats for wildlife
but also foster medicinal conservation.
Solutions
- Reduce daily consumption of paper includes printing paper, notebooks, napkins, toilet paper
- Educatelocal communities and tourists about the need to protect forests. Develop and enroll in
ecotourism activities.
Water pollution
Causes
- When industrial waste is not treated properly, it can very easily pollute the freshwater systems
that it comes into contact with.
- Accidental oil spills are also a source of oil pollution — as in the devastating spills from the
tanker.
Problems
- The ecosystem can be critically affected, modified and destructured because of water pollution.
- Pollution affects humans, and fecal matter in water sources can cause illnesses such as hepatitis.
- Water contamination may have a significant influence on the food chain. Typically, cadmium
and lead are two hazardous chemicals that enter the food chain via animals (fish when ingested
by animals and people).
Solutions
- Cut down on your meat consumption – raising animals for meat takes lots of water for the
grains and other feed they need.
- Properly dispose of chemical cleaners, oils and non-biodegradable items.
Overpopulation
Causes
- Today there are effective medicines that can increase the chance of conception and lead to a rise
in the birth rate.
- Poor family planning on the part of partners can lead to unexpected pregnancies though
contraceptives are easily available in developed countries.
Problems
- When a country becomes overpopulated, the rise in unemployment gives rise to crime, such as
theft.
- Increasing levels of air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, and noise. .
- With the growth of human cities and settlements, as well as due to farming practices and
intensive farming for food production, many animals are losing their natural habitats.
Solutions
- Educate individuals about various safe sex techniques and contraceptive methods available to
avoid any unwanted pregnancy.
- Disincentivize third and further children non-coercively, by limiting government support to the
first two children
- Create a national population policy built around an optimal population size, and work to achieve
it
Animal Extinction
Causes
- The land is used for housing, agriculture, and mining. Animals are then forced out of their
natural habitats.
- Large numbers of animals are also hunted with little regulation and often illegally.
- Pollution has also made the environment toxic for animals, whether in the air, water, or the land
itself.
Problems
- The extinction of a species impacts the ecosystem by distorting the food chain.
- When animals go extinct, we might lose essential discoveries, hampering our chances of finding
new treatments for diseases affecting animals and humans.
Solutions
- Avoid supporting the market in illegal wildlife including: tortoise-shell, ivory, coral. Also, be
careful of products including fur from tigers, polar bears, sea otters and other endangered
wildlife..
- Teach your friends and family about the wonderful wildlife, birds, fish and plants that live near
you. The first step to protecting endangered species is learning about how interesting and
important they are.
Human can still take actions to make up for those negative impacts on plants and animals
around the world).
For (Đồng tình)
People are making great efforts to limit the enormous environmental degradation
Several international accords have been introduced in order to ban the discharge of chemical
waste into rivers and oceans.
Various NGOs are raising funds and public awareness to prevent habitat destruction and protect
endangered species.
Against (Phản đối)
Despite our efforts in recent years, climate science has proved that the fight against
environmental disaster is already lost.
The oceans are heavily poisoned, filled with toxic waste and non-biodegradable plastics
Millions of people might lose their homes or starve from crops failing owing to the greenhouse
effect.
(It is necessary to raise the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles to protect the
environment).
For (Đồng tình)
Putting the rise in natural gas price into action may lead to the reduction of using private
transportation.
As people still need to travel, they might use public transportation in order to spend less money
on commuting, which reduces emissions being produced by vehicles.
In terms of freight service, more goods will be shipped by rail rather than by truck, which cuts
down on emissions.

Against (Phản đối)

Raising fuel’s price is just a short gap measure, the authorities should adopt more sustainable
transport policies.
As the increased use of public transport would alleviate pollution from private vehicles, free bus
and train passes should be offered.
The government can impose several regulations to strictly control the number of private car
ownership.

(Older employees competing with the younger for occupations)

Causes
Older people tend to have difficulties in finding jobs owing to age discrimination. (Người lớn
tuổi thường gặp khó khăn khi tìm việc căn cứ vào vấn đề phân biệt tuổi tác).
Younger employees may adapt more easily to changes in their work environment than the elderly
could do.
The cost of living keeps rising day by day, people have to work even after retiring in order to
make ends meet.
Solutions (Giải pháp)
The government should increase pension payment for workers who retired so as to prevent the
need for work after a certain age.
Laws can be adopted on companies to stop discrimination against older employees.
The government could subsidize the cost of housing and other community services to reduce
living expenses.
(The differences in qualities of men and women. Choosing career path based on sex).

(Studying in university/college or working after secondary school for better job
opportunity).
Studying in university/college (Học đại học/cao đẳng)
A university degree is a convincing proof of the competence of the applicant. (Tấm bằng đại học

Higher education will provide young people with more valuable qualifications, which most
employers expect.
University does not only teach the learners but also gives them time to find themselves
Working after secondary school (Đi làm sau khi tốt nghiệp trung học)
Certain majors are easier to learn by practice rather than by learning theory.
Working right after school may provide real life experience, which extends young people’s
horizons and helps them in the long run.
People securing employment after secondary school are likely to become financially independent
sooner than those who pursue higher education.
(Success in life comes from determination at work or money and appearance)
Determination at work : Some unfortunate people still achieve their goals by putting great effort
and following their dreams.
Major success rarely comes easily without perseverance.
While working hard, people gain various skills and experience, which are the keys to a brighter
career.
Money and appearance: Several jobs like receptionist have specific requirements about
appearance
Those who were born in affluent families can start their own business without borrowing money
from the bank.
If a singer or a model looks attractive, she can possibly draw attention from the audience then
climb the social ladder.

Some people say that the best way to improve public health is by increasing the number of
sports facilities. Others, however, say that this would have little effect on public health and
that other measures are required. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
On one hand, people’s health has been greatly enhanced thanks to participation in sports
facilities. It is an undeniable fact that fitness levels are increased by taking part in physical
activities such as doing daily exercise or playing sports. Therefore, the increasing popularity of
gym classes or sports clubs gives people more chances to improve their health. After a hard day
at work, many residents in my neighbourhood attend evening yoga classes in order to keep fit and
stay healthy.
On the other hand, I would argue that increasing the provision of sports amenities would have
little impact on public health. This can be explained by the fact that many people who paid for an
annual gym membership failed to go entirely after just one month. Therefore, I think that it is
more important to educate citizens about basic health awareness. A person would easily avoid
some potential health problems if he is equipped with sufficient basic knowledge about medicine
and health care. For example, when a child knows more about the adverse effects of smoking, he
might be less likely to take up this bad habit in his adulthood. Public campaigns and health
protection programmes, thus, should be promoted so that people know how to protect their health
effectively.
It is more important to spend public money promoting a healthy lifestyle in order to
prevent illness than to spend it on the treatment of people who are already ill. To what
extent do you agree of disagree?
On one hand, I agree that a large proportion of state budget should be allocated to activities or
campaigns that promote a healthy lifestyle. This is because a lot of diseases nowadays are
actually the direct result of people’s unhealthy habits. For example, children who eat fast food on
a daily basis commonly can suffer from a range of health issues, such as weight problems and
obesity. These diseases can be prevented if people are made more aware of the severe
consequences of an unhealthy diet. In addition, there are a number of incurable diseases, such as
HIV, AIDS and many forms of cancer. Of course, there are drugs and treatments that can prolong
the life of patients suffering from such diseases, but the better solution in this case is obviously
trying to prevent these diseases from occurring, instead of trying to cure them, which can often
place a heavy burden on patients’ families, and on society as a whole.
On the other hand, the treatment for people who are already ill should also receive adequate
funding, due to the fact that some diseases simply cannot be prevented. People living in many
tropical or coastal regions, for example, are highly vulnerable to water-borne diseases after a
natural disaster such as a tsunami or heavy flooding. Additionally, there are also some illnesses
and disorders that are inherited. For instance, if a person suffers from asthma, it is highly likely
that his children will also contract respiratory related diseases, regardless of their diet or lifestyle.
These mentioned cases would be almost impossible for people or the government to prevent, and
therefore money needs to be spent on the treatment of patients.
