Assignment Title: Exploring MS Word Essentials

Objective: The objective of this assignment is to familiarize students with the basic functions and
features of Microsoft Word. Through practical exercises, students will learn how to effectively insert,
format, and manipulate text, paragraphs, tables, lists, graphics, and other elements in a document.

Instructions:

1. Read through each task carefully and follow the instructions provided.

2. Complete the assignment using Microsoft Word.

3. Save your completed assignment with your name and the date.

Assignment Tasks:

1. Insert Text and Paragraphs (2 Marks):

 Open a new Word document.

 Type a brief introduction about yourself, including your name, grade, and hobbies.

 Insert a paragraph about your favorite subject in school.

2. Format Text and Paragraphs (3 Marks):

 Change the font style and size of your name to make it stand out.

 Bold the title of your favorite subject.

 Apply italic formatting to one paragraph of your introduction.

 Adjust the line spacing of your entire document to double spacing.


3. Order and Group Text and Paragraphs (2 Marks):

 Create a bulleted list of three reasons why you enjoy your favorite subject.

 Number the paragraphs in your introduction in sequential order.

4. Format a Document (2 Marks):

 Set the page orientation to landscape.

 Apply a colorful border to the entire document.

5. Create a Table (3 Marks):

 Insert a table with 3 rows and 3 columns.

 Populate the table with your top 3 favorite hobbies, placing each hobby in a separate
cell.

6. Modify a Table (2 Marks):

 Merge the cells in the first row of the table to create a table header.

 Change the background color of the table header to differentiate it from the rest of the
table.

7. Create and Modify a List (2 Marks):

 Convert the bulleted list into a numbered list.

 Increase the indentation of the numbered list items.

8. Insert Graphic Elements (2 Marks):

 Insert a relevant image from the internet related to your favorite hobby below the table.

 Resize the image to fit within the document appropriately.

9. Format Graphic Elements (1 Mark):

 Apply a border to the image with a dashed line style.

10. Insert and Format SmartArt Graphics (1 Mark):

 Insert a SmartArt graphic of your choice below the image.

 Change the color scheme of the SmartArt graphic.

Bonus Task (1 Mark):

 Insert a cover page with an appropriate title for your document.

 Include a standard table of contents that automatically updates based on the headings in your
document.

Note: Ensure your document is neat, organized, and visually appealing. Pay attention to spelling and
grammar throughout.
