● Population: about 6 million
PRESIDENTS & PRIME MINISTER
● Presidents: Over the course of its history,
Singapore has seen nine individuals serve as
president. The first president was Yusof Ishak, and
the current president, continuing this legacy, is
Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
● Prime Minister: Throughout its history, Singapore
has experienced the leadership of four different
prime ministers, each contributing to the nation's
development in their unique ways, with the first
being Lee Kuan Yew and the current prime minister
being Lawrence Wong.
RELIGIONS
● Chinese Buddhism happens to be the major religion
in Singapore because of the large population of
Southern Chinese immigrants and their
descendants.
● Hinduism is also popular being the faith of those
with South Indian heritage.
● Christianity is growing quite exponentially as a
belief system, and many young Singaporeans are
inclined towards it.

○ The Singapore Botanic Gardens is a UNESCO
World Heritage Site, this garden is a testament
to Singapore's commitment to preserving its
natural heritage.
○ The Gardens is not only a place of beauty and
relaxation but also a center for botanical
research, education, and conservation. It
features several attractions, including the
National Orchid Garden, the Rainforest, the
Ginger Garden, the Botany Centre and Tanglin
Gate, and the Jacob Ballas Children's Garden
● Intangible Heritage:
○ Hawker culture in Singapore, recognized by
UNESCO in 2020 as intangible cultural
heritage, exemplifies the nation's community
dining and culinary practices in a multicultural
urban context.
○ Hawker Culture in Singapore is an integral part
of the way of life for Singaporeans, where
people from all walks of life gather at hawker
centres to dine and bond over their favourite
hawker food, which are prepared by hawkers.
Over the years, this unique combination of
food, space and community has evolved into a
microcosm of Singapore’s multicultural society,
with stalls selling Chinese, Malay, Indian and
many other diverse types of dishes.
