Sheet (3)
Load Flow Studies
(1) Use Gauss Seidel method to get a load flow solution of the following system.
Then, Find Total Loss (active and reactive power) in system

(2) Use Gauss Seidel method to get a load flow solution of the following system
(3) Use Gauss Seidel method to get a load flow solution of the following system
(Perform only 1 iteration)
(4) The system shown in the figure below has the line data given in Table, Using
Newton-Raphson method for load flow study:
a) Determine the dimension of the Jacobean
b) Using the specified values and initial voltage estimates shown, calculate
i) The initial mismatch P3(o)
ii) The initial values of the second row, third column Jacobean element.
iii) The initial values of the fifth row, fifth column Jacobean element
(The base values are 100MVA, 230 kV)

(5) In the power system shown in the figure below, all values are in PU. Newton
Raphson method is used to solve the load flow problem. Assuming flat start, with
switch “SW” open, for the first iteration calculate:
(a) The power mismatch vector
(b) The Jacobean matrix elements.
(c) Explain what might be the effect of closing switch “SW”: recalculate the
changed elements only in (a) & (b).
(6) Consider the three-bus system shown in the figure below. Each line has a series
reactance of j0.2 pu (Resistance and shunt admittances are neglected). Other
system data are shown in Table. Using Newton Raphson method , perform one
iteration to solve for load flow.
(7) In the system shown in the figure below, bus #1 is a slack bus with 1.0 pu. And
bus #2 is a load bus. Using Newton-Raphson, Determine voltage of bus #2.
