INSTALLING VIRTUALBOX AND EXTENSIONS IN

ADMINISTRATOR MODE. TRACE CLEANING AND


DELETE OF PREVIOUS VERSIONS AND LOGS
Make sure there are no virtual box just intalled, because there are traces.

Windows hosts have their own hiper-V and Windows defender and some
computers HP have a software called sure sense. For windows hosts the non
hiper-V is considered possible danger.

So virtual box should be installed in administrator mode, and one need to


deactivate HP sure sense and to disactivate Hiper V.

And maybe disactivate Windows defender.

1.- Download the new version. (vbox.exe and vbox-extpack) both files should have
the same version. The download is in the downloads folder of the user. The
extension packs make the usb be usable and the cameras, from the virtual
machine, you need the virtual machine. Remote desktop.

Locate downloaded files: Virtual Box.exe, extension vbox-extpack


2.- Completely Uninstall previous versions of VirtualBox

IMPORTANT NOTE: PREVIOUS VIRTUAL MACHINES ARE NOT


DELETED WHEN UNINSTALLING VIRTUAL BOX APP.

They should be located in C:/Usuarios/<usuario>/VirtualBox VMs or


E:/VirtualBox VMs or similar.

3.- Delete internal traces from previous installations:

a) Enter C:/Usuarios/<usuario> /.VirtualBox


and empty . VirtualBox
b) Enter C:/Windows/System32/drivers and delete VBox*.sys (if possible. Those not
possible are not essential for cleaning previous traces). The permission of full control
Delete all the files in the folder The files that one can not be deleted they have no
influence in the operation of the Virtual Machine.

The virtual machines always uses the drivers of the hardware of the real machine.

So, we need to delete the traces of the drivers.


4.- Install Virtual Box.exe (must have administrator permissions). Next Mode,
accepting GPL and without changing locations. Restart.

Note: It could be necessary to deactivate Windows Defender and Hyper-V, along with
other security apps as HP Sure Sense, if having trouble when installing. In order to
deactivate Windows Defender, please disconnect from Internet, deactivate Windows
Defender, Install VirtualBox, reactivate Windows Defender and reactivate Internet (in
this order!).

5.- Execute Virtual Box IN ADMINISTRATOR MODE (close any other mode if
automatically opened). Accept changes in the system.

6.- Archivo>Herramientas>Administrador de Paquetes de Extensiones>Añadir


(File>Tools>Extension Packages Admninistrator>Add)

7.- Search vbox-extpack file INSIDE THE DOWNLOADS FOLDER OF THE


USER USED FOR DOWNLOADING and Install.

Note: When executing VirtualBox in Administrator Mode, Downloads belongs to


Administrator. Please navigate to C:/Usuarios/<usuario>/Descargas, being <usuario>
the user you had when you downloaded the extpack file.
Note: This technique allows professional installation of any app and its extensions in Administrator mode.
Deletion of previous traces always recommended.
