According to the output voltage, the gain can be represented in two ways:

Examining the gain plots in magnitude and decibels (dB) after doing AC and DC analysis on a
common source amplifier is essential for evaluating its performance. Usually, the gain is
displayed as a function of frequency on the magnitude plot. In a perfect world, the amplifier's
maximum gain will peak at a particular frequency and leave a mid-band gain visible. The
coupling and parasitic factors cause the gain to drop at both lower and higher frequencies. It is
easier to evaluate amplification when the gain is expressed on a logarithmic scale, which is why
the dB plot is useful. Over the intended frequency range, a well-designed common source
amplifier should have a flat and constant gain response in dB. Any departure from a flat
response could be a sign of limited bandwidth.
