Lead Engineer (Methods & Tools)

About the team:

Methods and Tools (M&T) is a transverse team working with different core engineering verticals in Airbus.
The USP of this team is working in a multi-functional environment providing digital solutions to engineering
problems.

The USP of the team is people with Core Engineering domain knowledge complemented by software
development skills. The team plays an enabler role in various digitization initiatives across Airbus utilizing
the latest technologies and the domain knowledge they have.

Some examples of the digital solutions for various Core Engineering departments such as Data driven
designs of wiring, automated routing electrical harnesses, Data Analytics based products aimed at reducing
physical tests of material specimens. It also involves developing web-based solutions to encapsulate and
automate different workflows such as flight test planning etc. In addition to these points, developing tools
for Electrical Wiring Harness and Hydraulic Circuit design process improvements. Some of the tools
developed; are used in the areas of Aircraft Safety analysis and Engineering Business Data monitoring etc.

M&T is also deeply involved in Agile Scrum and SAFe in developing state of the art digital products for the
areas mentioned above.
Main activities:

● Participate & contribute in Architecture discussion and perform initial technical evaluation of
Architecture and relevant framework & tools by performing studies including implementation of
PoCs before actual development
● Ability to understand the big picture, influence and define overall design direction,provide solutions
and suggest recommendations for complex issues.
● Support & guide team with low level design, UI wireframes, code review, testing & documentation
with quality oriented mindset
● Understand business processes, data flows and overall system in context with external interfaces
● Develop functional code for the business requirements as an individual contributor, including:
○ Front end development
○ Server side coding
○ Database design
● Perform unit and non-regression testing
● Can work with Continuous integrated development / DevOps environment
● Understands Agile way of working
● Be a member of Agile Development team (individual contributor)
● Handle project independently and Stakeholder management
● Strong passion for technology, modern platform mind-set and solving customer problems.
● Good communication skills, be able to communicate independently with the customer as well as
other stakeholders in the project teams.

Qualifications and Technical skills:

• Overall 8-10 years of industry experience in the software development industry.


• Expertise with these programming language - Python core with web development framework -
Flask, FastAPI, Django
• Expertise with application framework - React with Node JS
• Understanding of database technologies such as NoSQL(MongoDB), SQL(Postgres) and relational
databases schema design.
• Familiarity with API concepts.
• Ability to build interactive and efficient web applications in HTML,CSS and JavaScript.
• Good understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms.
• Sound knowledge of Unit testing.
• Sound knowledge in Software design and design patterns.
• Sound knowledge in Distributed system and Microservices(Web / Stand-alone).
• Very good analytical and reasoning skills.
• Basic knowledge on Linux.
• Introduction to AWS (Nice to have).
• Basic knowledge on Machine Learning(Nice to have)
• Sound knowledge of Agile Scrum and SAFe 4.6 (nice to have).
• Good Understanding of CI/CD Pipeline(Nice to have).
