21. For infinitely many solutions the condition is
a1/a2 = b1/b2 = c1/c2
2 3 7
⇒ 𝑘−1 = 𝑘+2 = 3𝑘 ( 1 mark )

Now, 2k+4 = 3k ⎼ 3
⇒k=7
And 9k = 7k + 14
⇒k=7
Hence the value of k is 7. ( 1 mark )

22. According to the question,

23. In the figure , ∠OAQ = 90 ° ( radius is perpendicular to the tangent at the point of
contact ) (1/2 mark )
Therefore, in ∆ OAQ, OA2 + AQ2 = OQ2 ( By Pythagoras Theorem) ( ½ mark)
Solving the equation , we get OA = radius = 7 cm (1 mark)

25. Perimeter of semi-circle = (𝜋+2) r = 72 cm

22
r ( 7 + 2) = 72 cm
36
r = 72

26. Let us assume 7-2√3 is a rational number
𝑎
Then 7⎼2√3 = 𝑏 where a & b are integers and also co-primes, with b≠ 0 (1 mark)
𝑎
7 ⎼ 𝑏 = 2√3 (1 mark)
7𝑏−𝑎

𝑏
7𝑏−𝑎
Since a & b are integers, we know that is rational and therefore √3 is
𝑏
also rational. But it is given that √3 is irrational number, which contradicts our
statement. (1 mark)

∴ 7⎼2√3 is an irrational number.

27. p(x) = ax2 + bx + c
Since ⍺ ,β are zeroes of p(x)
∴ ⍺ + β = ⎼b/a , ⍺β = c/a (1 mark)
Now ⍺2 + β2 = (⍺+β)2 - 2⍺β = (-b/a)2 – 2c/a (1 mark)
𝑏 2 −2𝑐𝑎

28. We know that the lengths of the tangents from an exterior point to a circle are equal.
Therefore, AR= AQ ….(i) ( tangents from A)
BP = BR …..(ii) ( tangents from B )
CQ = CP ……(iii) ( tangents from C) ( 1 mark)
(AR+BP+CQ) = (AQ +BR+CP) = k ( Adding equations i, ii, iii)
Perimeter of ∆ABC = ( AB +BC + CA)
= (AR+BR) + (BP+CP) + (CQ+AQ)
= (AR+BP+CQ) + (AQ+BR+CP) ( 1 mark)
=k+k
2k = Perimeter of ∆ABC
k = ½ (Perimeter of ∆ABC) ( 1 mark)
