Empirical Design Approaches (AASHTO and Road Note 31)

Design factors reported in Table 1 and Table 2, were used with AASHTO 1993 pavement
design approach to calculate the required pavement design thicknesses. The design
thickness value for the asphalt and the base layer are summarized in Table 3.

Similarly design thickness values are estimated based on Road Note 31 and are
summarized in Table 4. According to Road Note 31, traffic and subgrade are defined by
“T” and “S” classes.

Mechanistic-Empirical Approach (KENLAYER)


The KENLAYER software is part of the KENPAVE package which applies to flexible
