PRACTICAL NO 16

OBJECTIVE
To identify initial screen and create simple presentation

DESCRIPTION/THEORY
Microsoft PowerPoint is a presentation tool that supports text, shapes, graphics, pictures and
multimedia along with integration with other Microsoft Office products like Excel, Word etc. Key
skills in this practice include creating a new presentation, entering text, presentation views,
presentation themes.

PROCEDURE
 MS PowerPoint screen setup
 Open a New PowerPoint Presentation. Click on File tab and select New.
 Select Blank Presentation
 Return to the File tab and choose Name As
 Name your presentation so you can find it again
 Once it is saved then look on the top of the screen – you should see your presentation
with the name you gave it
 Click and type the title of your presentation in the "Click to add title" area.
 Click and type a subtitle in the "Click to add subtitle" area. Click where it says Click to
add subtitle and type Created by “Your Name”
 You are on the Home tab, now find where you add a New Slide (but not the little arrow,
just the image of New Slide)

 Click the New Slide button in the Slides group.


 To add text, click inside the placeholder and type.

 Right-click the slide layout. A menu appears. Click Layout and then click the layout you
want.

OBJECTIVE
Practice for Enter, edit and manipulate objects in slide show

EQUIPMENT/ MATERIAL

MS Office 2013 or latest

DESCRIPTION/THEORY

PROCEDURE

1. Create a minimum of 10 slides with a slide theme appropriate for the topic.
2. Utilize WordArt on your title slide for the title.
3. Limit the amount of text per slide to approximately 6 lines with 6 words or less
per line.
4. Apply a slide color scheme appropriate to your theme.
5. Use at least two different slide layouts
6. Insert clip art or photo to each slide.
7. Apply a different picture style or picture effect to each picture in your
presentation.
8. Insert a header on notes/handouts that includes your name and also insert a
date\time that updates automatically.
9. Insert a footer on slides with your name and slide numbers.
10. On one slide include a
table of exam marks
obtained in any 5
subjects for five students.
11. Apply the same bullets
and/or numbering on all
slides that require them.
12. Insert appropriate shapes
with text to create
organization chart.
13. Ensure error-free text.
14. Apply appropriate
animation to at least 2
slides.
15. Select a transition and
apply it to all slides.
16. Using the slide sorter
view, change the order of
slides.
17. Resize, Move, Copy and Delete Objects on slides.
18. Move, Copy and Delete one or more slides.
19. Save your presentation as your name in your folder.

Practice for applying format and animation on slide presentation

DESCRIPTION/THEORY
Animations are the way the words appear on the screen. An animation is a special
effect that applies to a single element on a slide such as text, a shape, an image, and
so on. A slide transition is the visual effect that occurs when you move from one slide to
the next during a presentation.
Animation—or movement—on the slide can be used to draw the audience's attention to
specific content or to make the slide easier to read.

PROCEDURE

Open an existing PowerPoint file.

Adding animations to an element


1. Select the object or text you want to animate.
2. Select Animations tab on the ribbon and choose an animation.
3. Select Effect Options and choose an effect.

Adding a transition to a slide


1. Select the slide you want to add a transition to.
2. Select the Transitions tab and choose a transition. Select a transition to see a
preview.
3. Select Effect Options to choose the direction and nature of the transition.
4. Select Preview to see what the transition looks like.
5. Select “Apply To All” to add the transition to the entire presentation.

Practice of Print and Present slide show in PowerPoint

DESCRIPTION/THEORY

PROCEDURE

1. Select File > Print.


2. For Printer, select the printer you want to print to.
3. For Settings, select the options you
want:
 Print All Slides: To print each slide
on a single sheet or change to just
print a range of slides.
 Slides: From the drop-down, choose
to print all slides, selected slides, or
the current slide. Or, in
the Slides box, type which slide
numbers to print, separated by a
comma.
 Print Layout: Choose to print just
the slides, just the speaker notes, an
outline, or handouts. The number of
slides per page is also an option, an
effective way to save paper.
 Color: Choose whether you want
color, grayscale, or pure black and
white.
4. Edit Header & Footer: Select to edit the header and footer before printing.
5. For Copies, select how many copies you want to print.
6. Select Print.
