help you create really


Pattern:
1. Set the objects you wish to make into a pattern
dynamic and interesting 2. Object > Pattern > Make
designs. And help you 3. Next open the Pattern Panel: Window > Pattern Options
work more efficiently! 4. Name each Pattern (name on the top of each box)
5. Set the Tile type (listed above each box)
6. Change Copies to 3 x 3
GRID PATTERN 7. Change the Brick Offset (listed above each box if applicable)
8. Draw a shape (your choice) to fill the box and fill with the
pattern you created by clicking on the swatch.
9. Add a stroke in a color that you like and set to 5 pixels

Hint: to edit the Pattern, double click on the Swatch or go to


Object > Pattern > Edit Pattern

HEX BY COLUMN BRICK BY ROW Offset: 1/4

To Screen shot a selected area on a Mac:


Cmmd + Shift + 4
HEX BY ROW BRICK BY COLUMN Offset: 2/3
Next, drag a box around the area you want to capture
The image will automatically go on your desktop
Then drag the image into AI
To Screen shot on Windows:
Alt + PrtSc
Then Ctrl & V to paste it into AI

Make sure you go to the Swatches Menu


and switch to Large Thumbnail View
MAKE YOUR OWN PATTERN! THE OBJECTS YOU WILL USE TO CREATE YOUR PATTERN
Now you get to arrange your own pattern! You will need to arrange the
elements here into a visually appealing pattern with equitable white space,
no overlapping objects. You will decide on the Tile Type you will use.

Make sure you use all of the items at least 1. You can NOT
change the size of the items, but you can change their angle. MY PATTERN
Hint: Remember you can double
click on an object after you make the
pattern to move individual objects.

Hint: Watch the top, bottom, left


and right while you move your
objects around!
