Mentor Graphics Tools installation procedure

Folder creation

• Click Computer -> Other locations -> Computer -> home

• Create new folder (Name: MentorGraphics)

• Create new folders tanner and calibre inside /home/MentorGraphics folder

Tanner installation

• Copy tanner setup file to /home/MentorGraphics/tanner

• Use the command

chmod 777 –R tanner-2018_3u4-rhel6.bin (from /home/MentorGraphics/tanner)

• Use the command


./tanner-2018_3u4-rhel6.bin (from /home/MentorGraphics/tanner)

• Type /home/MentorGraphics/tanner as path for installation

Package install

• Use the following command


• Press Enter
• Type y
• Press Enter

yum install ld-linux.so.2

yum install libXScrnSaver

Cshrc file update

• Copy hep.cshrc file to /home/MentorGraphics/cshrc in other client systems

• NOTE: Use the following command before executing mentor applications

csh

source /home/MentorGraphics/cshrc/hep.cshrc

Calibre setup file copy

• Copy calibre setup file to /home/MentorGraphics/calibre

Calibre setup file permission update

• Use the command

chmod 777 –R aoi_cal_2021.2_28.15.exe (from /home/MentorGraphics/calibre)

• Use the command


./ aoi_cal_2021.2_28.15.exe (from /home/MentorGraphics/calibre)

• Copy Tessent setup files to /home/MentorGraphics/Tessent


• Give permission to all the files
• Extract all files using tar command
• Use the command
. / tessent_2022_3_lnx-x86(from /home/MentorGraphics/Tessent)

Type D then Agree to license

Questa Prime/ Power aware-
Folder creation

• Click Computer -> Other locations -> Computer -> home


• Create new folder (Name: MentorGraphics)
• Create new folder name questasim inside /home/MentorGraphics folder

Questa Prime/ Power aware installation


• Copy questa_sim-2022.4.aol setup file to /home/MentorGraphics/questasim
• Use the command
chmod 777 –R questa_sim-2022.4.aol (from /home/MentorGraphics/questasim)
• Use the command
./ questa_sim-2022.4.aol (from /home/MentorGraphics/questasim)
• Click on install product option

• Then select target location as (/home/MentorGraphics/questasim) and click on next

• Select product as per your need, accept the agreement, then it will install tool.

HDL Designer Series-
Folder creation

• Click Computer -> Other locations -> Computer -> home


• Create new folder (Name: MentorGraphics)
• Create new folder name HDL_Designer inside /home/MentorGraphics folder

HDL Designer Series installation

• Copy questa_sim-2022.4.aol setup file to /home/MentorGraphics/HDL_Designer


• Change your working directory to where the files are downloaded.
• Change the permission of "HDS_2023.1_ixl.exe" so that you can execute.
• chmod 555 install (for Linux)
• At the UNIX prompt enter,
• ./HDS_2023.1_ixl.exe
• This will self-extract and launch the HDL Designer Series
• Install program MIP (Mentor Install Program). This will take about 2 minutes.
• Note: MIP may fail for "No space left on device" if home directory is full thus please free
up some disk space at $HOME and try again.
OR
./HDS_2023.1_ixl.exe -msiloc <user_specified_target_directory>/mgc this will install MIP
to <user_specified_target_directory>/mgc rather than $HOME/mgc
• Choose "Next" for the Welcome Wizard.
• Review the License Agreement (should agree to progress).
• Browse to the desired install target location.
• Choose one or more of the available products.
• Follow the steps in the install program.

Cshrc file update

Questa Formal Tool QFT- CDC, CDC-FX, AutoCheck, CoverCheck,
PropCheck, XCheck, QLint, RDC, SecureCheck, SLEC
Folder creation
• Click Computer -> Other locations -> Computer -> home
• Create new folder (Name: MentorGraphics)
• Create new folder name QFT inside /home/MentorGraphics folder

QFT installation-
• Copy setup file to /home/MentorGraphics/QFT
• Make the V2022.4 Linux_64.aol file executable and run it.
prompt> chmod u+x V2021.x.Linux_64.aol
prompt> V2021.x.Linux_64.aol
• Select the language from the install dialog, then select the install directory as the
target for the installation and click Install.
• Select Agree if you agree to the terms of the license agreement.

Install FPGA Libraries-

• Select the V2021x.fpga.tgz link and download the file (x is the release letter). Do the
same for install_fpga_libs.
• Make the installer executable and run it.
• prompt> chmod u+x install_fpga_libs
• prompt> install_fpga_libs
• Be sure the installation software is already installed.
• This installs Questa formal FPGA libraries in separate,
• Vendor-specific directories. Questa formal release should
Have been already installed.
OK [o, Enter], Cancel [c]
Enter o and then enter the path to the installation software:
• Please enter Questa formal installation path.
• If the installation has a share/fpga_libs directory, you can overwrite it or cancel the
installation. The files are extracted from the tgz file and installed in the proper
location.
• (<install_dir>/share/fpga_libs/<vendor>/<library>).
