The principle of equity today does not apply to wages alone. Value to the customer, care for the environment,
dealings with business associates would all come under the purview of this principle. Today, we find that Public
Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have developed entire townships as, for example, BHEL has developed Ranipur in
Hardwar (Uttaranchal).
Similarly, Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad is famous for its quality Papad throughout the world. The
organisation which started with a modest loan of ₹ 80 now has a turnover of over ₹ 301 crores. Its exports exceed ₹
10 crore. The company has at least 61 branches. The company is synthesis of three core values(or concepts), namely
the concept of business, the concept of family and the concept of devotion. All its dealings are carried out on a sound
and pragmatic footing-production of quality goods and at reasonable prices.Besides, its member-sisters donate
collectively for good causes from time-to-time according to their capacity. All the affairs of the institution are dealt
with in a manner similar to that of a family carrying out its own daily household chores. For the member-sisters,
employees and well-wishers, the institution is never merely a place to earn one's livelihood - it is a place of worship
to devote one's energy not for his or her own benefits but for the benefit of all. In this institution work is worship. The
institution is open to everybody who has faith in its basic concepts.

32. After completing her studies in product design, Sara wishes to start her own business to design products to cater [6]

wanted to focus on supplying high quality products at affordable prices. The Unique Selling Proposition (U.S.P)
of the products would be sensitivity of the challenges and needs of the differently abled people.
She wants to employ only differently abled persons in her factory and sales offices across the country. This
decision of Sarita provides the base for interpreting her strategy. This also defines the broad parameters within
which the company may recruit the persons. Sara has also to decide about the exact manner and the
chronological order of how the selection of the differently abled applicants will be done.
In the above lines, Sara is discussing about one of the functions of management. This function has several types.
Identify and explain the types Sara is discussing in the above lines.

After completing a diploma in Bakery and Patisserie, Payal sets up a small outlet at Goa Airport to provide a healthy
food option to the travellers. To begin with, she has decided to sell five types of patties, three types of pizzas and low
sugar muffins in four flavours. Thus, by deciding in advance what to do and how to do, she is able to reduce the risk
of uncertainty and avoid overlapping and wasteful activities. But sometimes her planning does not work due to some
unavoidable circumstances like cancellation of flights due to bad weather conditions, government alert, etc. which
adversely affects her clientele.
In the context of the above case:

33. Aman Chadha started 'Bulls Eye' a company for providing cybersecurity solutions to businesses. Its objective is [6]
to prevent, detect and respond to cyber-attacks and protect critical data. He was a hardworking software engineer
and an expert in cybersecurity. His reputation grew by leaps and bounds as he was not only a person of integrity
but also did his work with utmost honesty and sincerity. The business started growing day by day.
He was delighted when he was offered a big project by the Ministry of Defence. While working on the project,
he found that the volume of work made it impractical for him to handle all the work by himself. He decided to
expand the team. The company maintained a close liaison with a local engineering college. During a campus
placement, Ishan and Vrinda were appointed to work for the new project.
He found the new employees capable, enthusiastic and trustworthy. Aman Chadha was thus, able to focus on
objectives and with the help of Ishan and Vrinda, the project was completed on time. Not only this Aman
Chadha was also able to extend his area of operations. On the other hand, Ishan and Vrinda also got
opportunities to develop and exercise initiative.
