Sensing is a technique used to gather information about a physical object or process,including the
occurrence of events (i.e., changes in state such as a drop in temperature orpressure). An object
performing such a sensing task is called a sensor. For example, thehuman body is equipped with
sensors that are able to capture optical information from theenvironment (eyes), acoustic
information such as sounds (ears), and smells (nose). Theseare examples of remote sensors, that
is, they do not need to touch the monitored objectto gather information.

From a technical perspective, a sensor is a device that translatesparameters or events in the


physical world into signals that can be measured and analyzed. Another commonly used term is
transducer, which is often used to describe a device thatconverts energy from one form into
another. A sensor, then, is a type of transducer that convertsenergy in the physical world into
electrical energy that can be passed to a computingsystem or controller.

Sensor Classifications
Sensor classification schemes range from very simple to the complex. Depending on the
classification purpose, different classification criteria may be selected. Here, we offer several
practical ways to look at the sensors.
All sensors may be of two kinds: passive and active. A passive sensor does not need any
additional energy source and directly generates an electric signal in response to an external
stimulus; that is, the input stimulus energy is converted by the sensor into the output signal. The
examples are a thermocouple, a photodiode, and a piezoelectric sensor. Most of passive sensors
are direct sensors as we defined them earlier. The active sensors require external power for their
operation, which is called an excitation signal. That signal is modified by the sensor to produce
the output signal.

The active sensors sometimes are called parametric because their own properties change in
response to an external effect and these properties can be subsequently converted into electric
signals. It can be stated that a sensor’s parameter modulates the excitation signal and that
modulation carries information of the measured value. For example, a thermistor is a
temperature-sensitive resistor. It does not generate any electric signal, but by passing an electric
current through it (excitation signal), its resistance can be measured by detecting variations in
current and/or voltage across the thermistor. These variations (presented in ohms) directly relate
to temperature through a known function. Another example of an active sensor is a resistive
strain gauge in which electrical resistance relates to a strain. To measure the resistance of a
sensor, electric current must be applied to it from an external power source.

Depending on the selected reference, sensors can be classified into absolute and relative. An
absolute sensor detects a stimulus in reference to an absolute physical scale that is independent
on the measurement conditions, whereas a relative sensor produces a signal that relates to some
special case.An example of an absolute sensor is a thermistor: a temperature-sensitive resistor.
Its electrical resistance directly relates to the absolute temperature scale of Kelvin. Another very
popular temperature sensor—a thermocouple—is a relative sensor. It produces an electric
voltage that is function of a temperature gradient across the thermocouple wires. Thus, a
thermocouple output signal cannot be related to any particular temperature without referencing to
a known baseline. Another example of the absolute and relative sensors is a pressure sensor. An
absolute-pressure sensor produces signal in reference to vacuum—an absolute zero on a pressure
scale. A relative-pressure sensor produces signal with respect to a selected baseline that is not
zero pressure (e.g., to the atmospheric pressure).

Sensing Mechanism
Because a sensor is a converter of generally nonelectrical effects into electrical signals,one and
often several transformation steps are required before the electric output signalcan be generated.
These steps involve changes of the types of energy, where the finalstep must produce an
electrical signal of a desirable format. there are two types of sensor: direct and complex.Adirect
sensoris the one that can directly convert a nonelectrical stimulus into an electric signal.

Many stimuli cannot be directly converted into electricity, thus multiple conversionsteps would
be required. to detect the displacement ofan opaque object, a fiber-optic sensor can be employed.
A pilot (excitation) signalis generated by a light-emitting diode (LED), transmitted via an optical
fiber to theobject and reflected from its surface. The reflected photon flux enters the
receivingoptical fiber and propagates toward a photodiode, where it produces an electric
currentrepresenting the distance from the fiber-optic end to the object. sensor involves the
transformation of electrical current into photons, the propagationof photons through some
refractive media, reflection, and conversion back into electriccurrent. Therefore, such a sensing
process includes two energy-conversion steps anda manipulation of the optical signal as well.
There are several physical effects which result in the direct generation of electricalsignals in
response to nonelectrical influences and thus can be used in direct sensors.Examples are
thermoelectric (Seebeck) effect, piezoelectricity, and photoeffect.
Mechanical Sensor

A mechanical sensor is a device that detects changes in mechanical properties such as pressure,
strain, or displacement and converts them into an electrical signal that can be interpreted by a
measuring instrument or a computer.

The sensing mechanism of a mechanical sensor depends on the type of mechanical property
being measured. For example, in a pressure sensor, the sensing element typically consists of a
diaphragm or a piezoelectric crystal that is mechanically deformed when subjected to pressure.
This deformation causes a change in the electrical resistance or capacitance of the sensing
element, which can be measured and used to determine the pressure.

In a strain gauge, the sensing element is a thin strip of metal that deforms when subjected to
strain. The deformation causes a change in the electrical resistance of the strip, which can be
measured and used to determine the amount of strain.

In a displacement sensor, the sensing element may consist of a linear or rotary encoder that
converts the mechanical displacement of an object into an electrical signal. For example, a linear
encoder typically consists of a stationary scale and a movable reading head that slides along the
scale. As the head moves, it generates a series of electrical pulses that correspond to the distance
traveled.

Overall, the sensing mechanism of a mechanical sensor involves converting a mechanical input
into an electrical output that can be measured and analyzed to determine the magnitude and/or
direction of the input.

a) Piezoresistivity is an important property of many mechanical sensors, particularly those


used to measure strain and pressure. In these sensors, a piezoresistive material is used as
the sensing element, which changes its electrical resistance in response to mechanical
stress or strain.

For example, in a strain gauge, a thin strip of piezoresistive material is bonded to a


surface that will be subjected to strain. As the surface deforms, the piezoresistive material
changes its electrical resistance, which can be measured and used to determine the
amount of strain.

Strain Gauge
Similarly, in a pressure sensor, a piezoresistive material is used as the sensing element,
such as a diaphragm made of silicon or a ceramic material. As the pressure changes, the

diaphragm deforms, and the piezoresistive material changes its electrical resistance,
which can be measured and used to determine the pressure applied to the diaphragm.

The piezoresistive effect can be quite sensitive, allowing for accurate measurement of
small changes in mechanical stress or strain. However, the effect is also temperature-
sensitive, and careful attention must be paid to temperature compensation and calibration
to ensure accurate measurements.

Overall, piezoresistivity is a critical property of many mechanical sensors, enabling them


to accurately and reliably measure a wide range of mechanical properties.

b) In these sensors, a piezoelectric material is used as the sensing element, which generates
an electrical charge in response to mechanical stress or strain.

For example, in an accelerometer, a piezoelectric crystal is used as the sensing element.


As the accelerometer experiences acceleration, the piezoelectric material generates an
electrical charge, which can be measured and used to determine the acceleration.

Similarly, in a vibration sensor, a piezoelectric material is used as the sensing element to


detect mechanical vibrations. The vibrations cause the piezoelectric material to deform
and generate an electrical charge, which can be measured and used to determine the
characteristics of the vibration.

Piezoelectric sensors are preferred in certain applications because they are rugged,
compact, and can be very sensitive. However, they can be affected by temperature and
can be subject to electrical noise, which must be carefully considered in the design and
calibration of the sensor.
c) Capacitive techniques are used to measure changes in capacitance caused by changes in
physical variables such as position, distance, pressure, and humidity. Capacitive sensors
operate on the principle that the capacitance between two conductive surfaces changes
with the change in the separation distance between them.

In a capacitive sensor, a conductive object, called the target or sensing element, changes
the capacitance between two conductive surfaces or plates. One of the conductive
surfaces is fixed, and the other surface is movable or forms the sensing element. The
capacitance is measured by applying a small alternating voltage across the two surfaces

or plates, and the resulting current is measured to determine the capacitance. Changes in
capacitance are then converted into a measurable signal, such as a voltage or frequency.

Capacitive sensing techniques have several advantages, including high sensitivity, fast
response time, and a low-power requirement. Capacitive sensors can also be used in
harsh environments, including high temperatures and corrosive environments, and they
can be made very small and lightweight, making them useful in many different
applications.

Examples of capacitive sensing techniques include position sensors, where changes in


capacitance are used to measure linear or angular displacement, and pressure sensors,
where the deflection of a diaphragm changes the capacitance between two conductive
surfaces. Capacitive sensing techniques are also used in touchscreens, where the
proximity of a finger to the screen changes the capacitance of the touchscreen and allows
the device to detect touch inputs.

d) Inductive techniques are used to measure changes in inductance caused by changes in


physical variables such as position, distance, and presence of metallic objects. Inductive
sensors operate on the principle that the magnetic field around a conductor change with
the change in the distance between the conductor and another magnetic or conductive
object.

In an inductive sensor, a coil of wire is used as the sensing element. When an alternating
current is passed through the coil, a magnetic field is generated around the coil. The
presence of a metallic or magnetic object within the magnetic field changes the
inductance of the coil. This change in inductance is detected by measuring the changes in
the electrical properties of the coil, such as the impedance, phase, or frequency of the
current passing through the coil.

Inductive sensing techniques have several advantages, including high sensitivity, fast
response time, and the ability to detect objects through non-conductive materials such as
plastic or glass. Inductive sensors can also be used in harsh environments, including high
temperatures and corrosive environments, and they can be made very small and
lightweight, making them useful in many different applications.

Examples of inductive sensing techniques include proximity sensors, where changes in


inductance are used to detect the presence or absence of metallic objects, and position
sensors, where changes in inductance are used to measure linear or angular displacement.
Inductive sensing techniques are also used in metal detectors, where changes in
inductance are used to detect the presence of metallic objects hidden beneath the ground
or within walls.

e) Resonant techniques are commonly used in sensing applications to measure changes in


resonance frequency caused by changes in physical variables such as pressure,
temperature, and mass. Resonant sensors operate on the principle that the resonance
frequency of a vibrating structure changes with changes in the physical variable being
measured.

In a resonant sensor, a vibrating structure, such as a cantilever beam, is used as the


sensing element. The vibrating structure is excited to oscillate at its natural resonance
frequency, and the frequency of the vibration is measured. When the physical variable
being measured changes, it affects the mass, stiffness, or damping of the vibrating
structure, causing a shift in the resonance frequency. The shift in the resonance frequency
is detected by measuring changes in the electrical properties of the sensor, such as
impedance, phase, or frequency.

Resonant sensing techniques have several advantages, including high sensitivity, fast
response time, and the ability to measure small changes in physical variables. Resonant
sensors can also be made very small and lightweight, making them useful in many
different applications.

Examples of resonant sensing techniques include pressure sensors, where changes in


resonance frequency are used to measure changes in pressure, and mass sensors, where
changes in resonance frequency are used to measure changes in mass. Resonant sensing
techniques are also used in temperature sensors, where changes in resonance frequency
are used to measure changes in temperature, and in chemical and biological sensors,
where changes in resonance frequency are used to detect changes in the mass or
properties of a chemical or biological substance.

Electrical Sensor
he sensing mechanism of an electrical sensor convert a physical variable, such as
temperature, pressure, or light, into an electrical signal that can be measured and
analyzed.

For example, in a temperature sensor, a thermocouple or thermistor is used as the sensing


element. The thermocouple or thermistor changes its electrical resistance with changes in
temperature. This change in resistance is measured and converted into a voltage or
current signal that can be interpreted as a temperature value.

In a pressure sensor, a piezoelectric material or strain gauge is used as the sensing


element. The piezoelectric material generates an electrical signal when subjected to
pressure, while the strain gauge changes its electrical resistance with changes in pressure.
The changes in electrical signal are then measured and converted into a pressure value.
In a light sensor, a photodiode or phototransistor is used as the sensing element. The
photodiode or phototransistor generates an electrical signal when exposed to light. The
magnitude of the electrical signal is proportional to the intensity of the light being
detected.

In each of these examples, the sensing element of the electrical sensor is chosen based on
its ability to convert the physical variable being measured into an electrical signal. The
electrical signal is then processed and analyzed to determine the value of the physical
variable being measured.

Temperature Sensors
A thermal sensor is a type of sensor that measures temperature or heat energy. Thermal
sensors can be classified into two categories: contact and non-contact.

Contact thermal sensors make direct contact with the object being measured and measure
its temperature by sensing the amount of heat being conducted through the material.
Examples of contact thermal sensors include thermocouples, thermistors, and resistance
temperature detectors (RTDs).

Thermocouples are made of two dissimilar metals that generate a voltage when subjected
to a temperature gradient. This voltage can be measured and correlated to a temperature
value. Thermistors are made of materials whose electrical resistance changes with
changes in temperature. RTDs are made of materials whose electrical resistance changes
linearly with temperature. All of these sensors require direct contact with the object being
measured.

Non-contact thermal sensors, on the other hand, do not require direct contact with the
object being measured. Instead, they detect the amount of infrared radiation emitted by
the object, which is proportional to its temperature. Examples of non-contact thermal
sensors include infrared (IR) thermometers, pyrometers, and thermal imaging cameras.

Infrared thermometers use a lens to focus infrared radiation onto a detector, which
converts the radiation into an electrical signal. Pyrometers use a lens to focus radiation
from a specific point on the object being measured onto a detector. Thermal imaging
cameras use an array of IR detectors to create an image of the temperature distribution
across a surface.

Thermal sensors are used in a wide range of applications, including temperature control
in manufacturing processes, monitoring equipment and systems for overheating, and
measuring body temperature in medical settings.

Magnetic sensors

Magnetic sensors operate based on the detection of changes in magnetic fields. They can
be classified into two main categories: contact and non-contact.

Contact magnetic sensors require physical contact with the object being measured. They
typically use a magnetic field detector, such as a Hall effect sensor, to measure changes
in magnetic fields caused by the object. Hall effect sensors are based on the principle that
when a magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the flow of electrical current in a
conductor, a voltage is generated perpendicular to both the magnetic field and the current
direction. The magnitude of the voltage is proportional to the strength of the magnetic
field.

Non-contact magnetic sensors, on the other hand, do not require physical contact with the
object being measured. They typically use a magnetic field detector, such as a
magnetoresistive sensor or a fluxgate sensor, to measure changes in magnetic fields
caused by the object.

Magnetoresistive sensors are based on the principle that the electrical resistance of a
material changes with changes in magnetic fields. Fluxgate sensors use a magnetic core
that is driven into saturation by an AC current. As the magnetic field around the core
changes due to the presence of a magnetic object, the output signal of the sensor changes
proportionally.

Magnetic sensors are commonly used in applications such as navigation, position and
motion sensing, and current sensing. For example, they are used in compasses to detect
changes in the Earth's magnetic field and determine direction. They are also used in
industrial applications to detect the position of moving machinery, in automotive
applications to detect wheel speed and position, and in consumer electronics such as
smartphones to detect the orientation of the device.

Optical sensors

Optical sensors are electronic devices that use light to detect changes in physical
variables such as position, motion, pressure, and temperature. They are used in a wide
range of applications, from consumer electronics to industrial automation.

The sensing mechanism of optical sensors depends on the specific type of sensor being
used.

Photoelectric sensors: These sensors use light to detect the presence or absence of an
object. They emit a beam of light, which is reflected off an object and detected by a
receiver. When the beam of light is interrupted, the sensor detects the object.

Optical encoders: These sensors are used to detect the position, direction, and speed of
rotating machinery. They consist of a rotating disc with alternating transparent and
opaque areas. As the disc rotates, a light source and detector detect the changes in light
passing through the disc and convert them into electrical signals that can be used to
determine the position, direction, and speed of the rotating machinery.

Fiber optic sensors: These sensors use fiber optic cables to transmit light and detect
changes in physical variables. They consist of a light source that emits light into a fiber
optic cable, which carries the light to a sensing element. The sensing element changes the
light in response to the physical variable being measured, such as pressure or
temperature. The changes in light are detected by a receiver and converted into electrical
signals.
Spectrophotometers: These sensors are used to measure the concentration of a substance
in a liquid or gas by analyzing the light absorbed or transmitted by the substance. They
emit a beam of light at a specific wavelength and measure the amount of light absorbed
or transmitted by the substance.

Overall, optical sensors offer high accuracy and precision, fast response times, and non-
contact measurement capabilities, making them ideal for a wide range of applications.

After mechanical contact and potentionometric sensors, optical sensors are probably the
most popular for measuring position and displacement. Their main advantages are
simplicity, the absence of the loading effect, and relatively long operating distances. They
are insensitive to stray magnetic fields and electrostatic interferences, which makes them
quite suitable for many sensitive applications. An optical position sensor usually requires
at least three essential components: a light source, a photodetector, and light guidance
devices, which may include lenses, mirrors, optical fibers, and so forth.

Optical Bridge
The concept of a bridge circuit, like a classical Wheatstone bridge, is employed in many
sensors and the optical sensor. A four-quadrant photodetector consists of four light
detectors connected in a bridgelike circuit. The object must have an optical contrast
against the background. Consider a positioning system of a spacecraft. An image of the
Sun or any other sufficiently bright object is focused by an optical system (a telescope)
on a four-quadrant photodetector. The opposite parts of the detector are connected to the
corresponding inputs of the difference amplifiers. Each amplifier produces the output
signal proportional to a displacement of the image from the optical center of the sensor
along a corresponding axis. When the image is perfectly centered, both amplifiers
produce zero outputs. This may happen only when the optical axis of the telescope passes
through the object.

Fiber-Optic Sensors
Fiber-optic sensors can be used quite effectively as proximity and level detectors. The
intensity of the reflected light is modulated by the distance d to the reflective surface. A
liquid-level detector with two fibers and a prism utilizes the difference between refractive
indices of air (or gaseous phase of a material) and the measured liquid. When the sensor
is above the liquid level, a transmitting fiber (on the left) sends most of its light to the
receiving fiber (on the right) due to a total internal reflection in the prism. However,
some light rays approaching the prism reflective surface at angles less than the angle of
total internal reflection are lost to the surroundings. When the prism reaches the liquid
level, the angle of total internal reflection changes because the refractive index of a liquid
is higher than that of air. This results in a much greater loss in the light intensity, which
can be detected at the other end of the receiving fiber. The light intensity is converted
into an electrical signal by any appropriate photodetector.
Fiber-optic displacement sensor utilizes the modulation of reflected light intensity.

which shows a sensor fabricated by Gems Sensors (Plainville, CT). The fiber is U-
shaped, and upon being immersed into liquid, it modulates the intensity of passing light.
The detector has two sensitive regions near the bends, wherethe radius of curvature is the
smallest. An entire assembly is packaged into a 5-mmdiameter probe and has a
repeatability error of about 0.5 mm. Note that the shape of the sensing element draws
liquid droplets away from the sensing regions when the probe is elevated above the liquid
level.

Chemical sensors

Chemical sensors are electronic devices that are designed to detect and analyze the
presence of specific chemical compounds or elements in a sample. They are used in a
wide range of applications, including environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics, and
industrial process control.

The sensing mechanism of chemical sensors depends on the specific type of sensor being
used. Here are a few examples:

Electrochemical sensors: These sensors use chemical reactions to produce an electrical


signal. They consist of a working electrode, a reference electrode, and an electrolyte
solution. When the chemical of interest is present, it reacts with the working electrode,
producing a change in voltage or current that can be measured.

Gas sensors: These sensors are used to detect the presence of specific gases in the air.
They consist of a sensing element that changes its electrical properties in the presence of
the gas, and a transducer that converts the change in electrical properties into a
measurable signal.

Optical sensors: These sensors use light to detect the presence of specific chemicals.
They consist of a sensing element that changes its optical properties in the presence of the
chemical, and a detector that measures the changes in light absorption or transmission.

Mass spectrometry sensors: These sensors use mass spectrometry to analyze the
composition of a sample. They ionize the sample, separate the ions by their mass-to-
charge ratio, and detect the resulting signals to identify the chemical compounds present.

Overall, chemical sensors offer high specificity and selectivity, fast response times, and
non-destructive measurement capabilities, making them ideal for a wide range of
applications in various fields.

Biological sensors

Biological sensors, also known as biosensors, are electronic devices that are designed to
detect and analyze biological compounds or molecules in a sample. They are used in a
wide range of applications, including medical diagnostics, environmental monitoring, and
food safety testing.

The sensing mechanism of biological sensors depends on the specific type of sensor
being used. Here are a few examples:

Enzyme-based biosensors: These sensors use enzymes to catalyze a reaction between the
biological molecule of interest and a substrate. The reaction produces a measurable
signal, such as a change in electrical current or light absorption, that can be detected and
quantified.

Immunological biosensors: These sensors use antibodies to detect the presence of specific
biological molecules, such as proteins or antigens. The antibodies are immobilized on a
surface, and when the target molecule binds to the antibody, a measurable signal is
produced.

DNA-based biosensors: These sensors use DNA strands to detect the presence of specific
genetic sequences. The DNA strands are immobilized on a surface, and when a
complementary sequence is present in the sample, it hybridizes with the immobilized
DNA, producing a measurable signal.

Microbial biosensors: These sensors use microorganisms, such as bacteria or yeast, to


detect the presence of specific biological molecules. The microorganisms are genetically
engineered to produce a measurable signal, such as fluorescence or bioluminescence, in
the presence of the target molecule.

Overall, biological sensors offer high specificity and sensitivity, fast response times, and
non-invasive or minimally invasive measurement capabilities.

Static characteristics

Static characteristics of a sensor refer to the performance properties that describe its
behavior under steady-state or static conditions. These characteristics provide important
information about how a sensor responds to changes in input parameters and how
accurately it measures the desired parameter. Some common static characteristics of
sensors include:

Sensitivity: Sensitivity is a measure of how much the output of a sensor changes in


response to a change in the input parameter being measured. It is typically expressed as
the ratio of change in output to change in input parameter, and indicates the sensor's
responsiveness to changes in the input parameter.

Range: The range of a sensor refers to the minimum and maximum values of the input
parameter that the sensor can accurately measure. It defines the operating limits of the
sensor and is an important consideration in selecting a sensor for a particular application.

Linearity: Linearity refers to the ability of a sensor to produce a linear relationship


between the input parameter and the sensor's output. A perfectly linear sensor produces a
straight-line relationship between input and output.

Accuracy: Accuracy refers to the closeness of the sensor's measured value to the true
value of the input parameter being measured. It is typically expressed as a percentage of
the full-scale range or a certain tolerance limit.

Precision: Precision refers to the consistency and repeatability of a sensor's output for the
same input stimulus under similar conditions. A highly precise sensor produces consistent
results with minimal variability.

Resolution: Resolution refers to the smallest increment or step that a sensor can detect or
measure. It is often expressed in terms of the smallest change in the input parameter that
can be detected by the sensor.
Hysteresis: Hysteresis refers to the difference in sensor output for the same input stimulus
during the increasing and decreasing phases of the input parameter. It can affect the
accuracy and repeatability of a sensor's measurements.

Drift: Drift refers to changes in the sensor's output over time under constant input
conditions. It can be due to factors such as aging, temperature variations, and other
environmental factors.

Repeatability: Repeatability refers to the ability of a sensor to produce consistent results


for repeated measurements of the same input parameter under similar conditions.

Environmental robustness: Environmental robustness refers to a sensor's ability to


withstand and operate reliably under harsh environmental conditions, such as extreme
temperatures, high humidity, and high vibration levels.

Dynamic characteristics

Dynamic characteristics of a sensor refer to its performance properties that describe its
behavior in response to changes in input parameters over time. These characteristics are

In older vehicles, engine sensors and instruments were simple. Modern vehicles are built
with complex electronic sensor systems. Digital computers now control engines through
various sensors. Luxury cars have a multitude of sensors for controlling various features.

Importance of sensors
Sensors play an important role in automotives. These enable greater degrees of vehicle
automation and futuristic designs. For example, at manufacturing units, sensorised
robotic arms are used for painting car bodies and measuring the thickness of the coatings
being applied. Manufacturers can simply monitor the thickness of the paint being sprayed
on instruments, airbag claddings and various internal parts of the vehicles using sensors.

Sensors monitor vehicle engines, fuel consumption and emissions, along with aiding and
protecting drivers and passengers. These allow car manufacturers to launch cars that are

Electronic control unit
All sensors inside the vehicle are connected to the ECU, which contains the hardware and
software (firmware). Hardware consists of electronic components on a printed circuit
board (PCB) with a microcontroller (MCU) chip as the main component. The MCU

All mechanical and pneumatic controls have been replaced by electronic/electrical

because long wires for each function are not required. It is installed in the vehicle and

interconnect network (LIN), FlexRay and BroadR-Reach, among others. A CAN bus
standard is designed to allow MCUs, sensors and other devices to communicate with each
other without a host computer.

Emission control
After sensing fuel level and calculating fuel quantity, the ECU sends signals to various
relays and actuators, including ignition circuit, spark plugs, fuel injectors, engine idling
air control valve and exhaust gas re-circulation (EGR) valve. Then, it extracts the best
possible engine performance while keeping emissions as low as possible.

Engine fault diagnosis


ECU collects signals from various sensors, including faulty ones, and stores these in its
