Appendix D – Site Preparation & Facilities Requirement
The following items need to be confirmed prior to requesting commissioning services. Failure
to check these items prior to requesting the commissioning site visit will cause delays or
could require an additional trip. Such delays are not accounted for in the price quoted by
Siemens. Additional time and expenses that result from incomplete items are the
responsibility of the customer/contractor.
• Confirm that Ethernet runs are connected to the controllers and to the
appropriate hubs/switches per the communication diagram.
• Customer Signature:_________________________
• Customer Signature:_________________________
• Confirm proper RS485 wiring. The cable shield should not be connected to
72 ground at any point. No more than 3000 ft 72
of cable in one communication loop.

Training
If required requested by the Customer with a purchase order; Training of Siemens i-3 Lighting Controls
equipment will be conducted for up to 6 people. It will taught by a Siemens Representative. This basic training
can include operators, supervisors, or any other site personnel that need to have a basic understanding of the
operation of the equipment (programming, navigating screens, viewing historical data, etc). Please prepare a
list of personnel that will attend training while the Siemens representative is at site.
1._______________________________________ 2.___________________________________
3._______________________________________ 4.___________________________________
5._______________________________________ 6.___________________________________
If logon passwords for the System Controller are desired, please prepare a list of user names, including level of
authorization (administrator, manager or user) and passwords prior to the training.
This basic training does not to replace in-depth training provided by Siemens. Additional training courses in
programming and maintenance are recommended. These classes can be scheduled through the Regional
Siemens Representative.
Miscellaneous
Installation Issues:
Extended Work Hours: Siemens commissioning personnel may find it necessary to work past normal
business hours during commissioning. Please arrange in advance for any necessary paperwork/passes that
will be required for after hours work.
• Union environment: It is the customer’s responsibility to provide a union interface contact to discuss
work habits and requirements, and also be present at these meetings. Siemens allocates sufficient time to
properly install machines. However, it has been our experience that union shops require substantially more
time. If additional time is required, charges will be incurred at normal Service Engineer Rates.
• Security Badges / Requirements: If required, identify a list of areas where Siemens personnel
require i-3 Lighting Controls (at minimum, i-3 Lighting Controls is needed in all areas where communicating
equipment and PCs are located) and confirm what security steps must be taken before arrival on the
installation trip. Please have any badges or security paperwork arranged ahead of time with the type
“Contractor – No Escort Required” preferred or a security escort. If a security escort is needed, please
