Course Title: Introduction to Electronics


Course Duration: 12 Weeks
Level: Undergraduate/Technical Training
Prerequisite: Basic Mathematics and Physics

Course Objectives

1. Understand the fundamental principles of electronics.


2. Learn the operation and applications of passive and active electronic components.
3. Analyze basic electronic circuits and their behavior.
4. Develop problem-solving skills to design and troubleshoot electronic circuits.

Week-wise Course Outline

Module 1: Fundamentals of Electronics (Weeks 1-2)

 Week 1:
o Introduction to Electronics
o Basic Concepts: Voltage, Current, Power, and Energy
o Ohm's Law and Kirchhoff's Laws
o Overview of Electrical Quantities and Units
 Week 2:
o Passive Components: Resistors, Capacitors, and Inductors
o Series and Parallel Circuits
o Basic Measurement Techniques (Multimeters and Oscilloscopes)

Module 2: Semiconductor Devices (Weeks 3-4)

 Week 3:
o Introduction to Semiconductors
o Diodes: PN Junction, Characteristics, and Applications (Rectifiers, Clippers,
Clampers)
 Week 4:
o Transistors: Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJT) and Their Configurations
o Field Effect Transistors (FET): JFET and MOSFET Basics
Module 3: Circuit Analysis Techniques (Weeks 5-6)

 Week 5:
o Thevenin’s and Norton’s Theorems
o Superposition Theorem
o Maximum Power Transfer Theorem
 Week 6:
o AC Circuit Analysis: Impedance and Reactance
o Frequency Response of RC, RL, and RLC Circuits

Module 4: Analog Electronics (Weeks 7-9)

 Week 7:
o Operational Amplifiers: Basics and Ideal Characteristics
o Op-Amp Applications: Inverting, Non-Inverting, Summing, and Difference
Amplifiers
 Week 8:
o Oscillators: RC, LC, and Crystal Oscillators
o Introduction to Filters: Low-Pass, High-Pass, Band-Pass, and Band-Stop
 Week 9:
o Voltage Regulators and Power Supplies
o Signal Conditioning and Amplification

Module 5: Digital Electronics (Weeks 10-12)

 Week 10:
o Introduction to Digital Electronics: Binary System and Logic Gates
o Truth Tables and Boolean Algebra
 Week 11:
o Combinational Circuits: Multiplexers, Demultiplexers, Encoders, and Decoders
o Sequential Circuits: Flip-Flops and Counters
 Week 12:
o Microcontrollers and Basic Programming Concepts
o Applications of Digital Electronics in Modern Devices
