ZINMAG

- Produced by Ton Nam Kim -

ZINMAG is a highly corrosion –resistant coated steel with a special
alloy composition which is with its unique coating layer of Zinc, 6%
Aluminium and 3% Magnesium coating.

Chemical treatment/ Protective coating layer

ZINMAG coating layer

Zn - Al6% - Mg3%

Substrate
# 1 CORROSION RESISTANCE
ZINMAG is 3 to 5 times more durable than galvanized products (GI) with the same coating and
thickness.

The magnesium in the ZINMAG coating is a catalyst that will accelerate the formation of a high
resistant crystalline film / a dense corrosion products which is extremely stable and officially called
Simonkolleite.

Mg2+ Mg(OH)2

Zn2+ Zn(OH)2 Zn5(OH)8Cl2.H2O Zn5(OH)8Cl2.H2O

Zn-Mg-Al Zn-Mg-Al

Substrate Substrate

* When Simonkolleite (Zn5(OH)8Cl2.H2O)is formed, it gradually moves outward to seal the entire steel base surface and prevent it from
corrosive environmental substances and plays an important role as a corrosion inhibitor for the base metal.
# 2 : ABRASION & FRICTION RESISTANCE
ZINMAG extraordinary resistance to abrasion and friction at the surface of steel coil.
Simonkolleite has a close chemical formula that can prevent the penetration of corrosive elements

# 3 : EDGE CORROSION
Limitation of edge corrosion while common coated-alloys fail to do.
Protection ability in cutting edge surface with self-filling effect.

After several weeks After 1 year

ZINMAG's edge anti-rust ability is much better than normal zinc layer, in which ,after 2600 hours testing, ZINMAG's surface
is entirely unchanged, proving that Simonkolleite 's formability and self-filling ability is significantly effective.
# 4 : RESISTANCE ABILITY TO WHITE RUST
Having almost no white rust on the steel coil.
The white rust appearance ability of GI is severely higher than ZINMAG.

Free flowing air Moisture from rain (dew) Free flowing air
O2 H2O O2 +CO2

Zinc Zinc Zinc

Oxide Hydroxide Carbonate
ZnO Zn(OH)2 2ZnCO3.Zn(OH)2

It is clearly seen that the Simonkolleite layer from ZINMAG formed and resulted in inhibiting the reaction process of zinc with
Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide and water steam which will create the white color which is a salt mixture of Carbonate and Hydroxide.
# 5 : CORROSION RESISTANCE IN CHEMICAL & ALKALINE
ENVIRONMENTS
Significant corrosion resistance in chemical and alkaline environments, especially, this coated alloys
which can be used in C5 environments.
