Lesson plan – Classroom Management

Due: Friday, November 22, 2024 by 11:59 pm

Now that you have developed a lesson plan, I would like you to add
in some key elements to help establish and maintain behavior in
your classroom. Within your lesson plan, please add the following:

1. During the course of your lesson, you need to add in two transitions.
These are short activities – such as clapping a 4-measure rhythm while
students move from one spot in the room to another to prepare for the
next segment of the lesson. These do not have to be elaborate; they
are simply added to give students something to focus on – lessening
the desire to talk or get off task – in between different activities of your
lesson plan. You can read more about transitions in elementary music
here: https://www.victoriaboler.com/blog/2022/1/4/transitions-in-

2. Additionally, you need to add one transition/activity for students as
they enter your classroom, and one transition/activity for students as
they exit your classroom. The idea of both transitions is to get
students focused as they are coming into your classroom and prepared
to transition back to their classroom teacher as they exit the
classroom. Most of the websites listed above have specific transition
ideas for the beginning and end of class.

You are under no obligation to use these websites – you are welcome to
search for your own ideas through other websites, and you are obviously
welcome to create your own also!

None of these transitions need to be elaborate or long – just enough to help

students as they transition between activities in the classroom. In your
lesson plan, whether you are using the template I provided for you, or you
are using your own template, please label these as “Transition” in your
“Instructional Sequence” section of your lesson plan.
So – to recap: You are adding 4 transitions to your already developed
lesson plan. IF you feel that there really are not two key places to put
transitions into the middle lesson plan, please reach out to me!
