Introduction to WebVIEW
Minimum Software:
Requirements • Internet Explorer v4.0 or later
• Netscape Navigator v 4.7x
• Java Script MUST be enabled in the browser.
• Sun Java Plug-in version 1.3 or later MUST be installed. The
Java plug-in can be obtained at either www.javasoft.com or
www.sun.com.
Minimum Hardware:
Requirements • Windows 95 or better.
Operating Environment:
Ensure that the operating environment for the WebVIEW meets
these requirements:
Storage Environment
• Temperature: –40° to 60° C. (–40° to 140° F.)
• Humidity: 8 – 90% relative humidity, non-condensing.
Installation
MedLAN and The MedLAN cable connection originates at the 3-pin terminal
WEbView strip connector on the bottom of the WebVIEW unit. There will be
one connector for each channel supported on the WebVIEW unit.
Connections This cable runs to the 3-pin MedLAN terminal strip connector on
the weld control card.
Cable Requirements
WTC recommends using Belden 9463 cable or equivalent. The
following table lists the MedLAN cable pinouts of WebVIEW and
the weld controls.

Security Setup
Requirements
• A computer with a standard 9-pin serial port
• A terminal emulation program
• A standard 9 pin Male to 9 pin Female Serial cable.
The following section describes the common method to do the
configuration outlined in this chapter.
Setup
1. Connect the computer to the WebVIEW with the 9 pin to 9
pin serial cable.
2. Configure the terminal emulation program.
• 9600 baud,
• 8 data bits,
• No parity,
• 1 stop bit
• No flow control. (under Hyperterm set it to NONE.)
3. Press RETURN on the computer, at this point you should see
a remotefep login: prompt. If the prompt is not seen, then
press CONTROL + D, then repeat this step.
Network Configuration
Header Area
• System log.
• Network-wide WCU status.

The linear stepper for each device on the network can be viewed,
printed or edited. Selecting linear stepper one, then view, the
operator can view the screen shown in the figure below. This
screen shows the current parameters of linear stepper number

Figure 32 shows the stepper edit menu. Once edit is pressed, the
screen below appears. The edit stepper screen works in the same
fashion that the schedule program screen, except there is no pop-

After the above questions are answered, the Remote FEP may then be configured.
WebVIEW Setup Start by connecting the 9-pin connector that came with your
WebVIEW to your serial connection of your computer.
*Note: Please only use the provided cables, not all cables will work.
Assign the The user must select the correct "COM" port that the 9-pin serial
Communications cable will be using to connect to the WebVIEW.
Port NOTE: (For Windows 98 and later) If the operator is unsure of
their COM port address, they can right-click on "My Computer"
and select "Properties". This will being up a window, where the

• If not, press the “ENTER” key.
If you still do not see a login prompt:
• press “ctrl-D”.
If both of the above actions do not work, please check the 9-pin
