Voltage Amplifiers
• VOLTAGE GAIN • LOADING EFFECT OF INPUT IMPEDANCE Voltage Amplifiers • THE CHAPTER DEAL WITH CE AMPLIFIER AND SHOWS HOW TO CALCULATE VOLTAGE GAIN AND AC VOLTAGES FROM CIRCUIT VALUES
• AC VOLTAGE GAIN SHALL BE DERIVED FROM “π- MODEL AND
T- MODEL VOLTAGE GAIN Av • Voltage gain is the ratio of ac output voltage to ac input voltage Voltage Gain from π- MODEL Voltage Gain from T- MODEL Q.FOR THE CIRCUIT SHOWN IN FIG OBTAIN THE VOLTAGE GAIN AND OUPTPUT VOLTAGE ACROSS THE LOAD RESISTOR Q.FOR THE CIRCUIT SHOWN IN FIG OBTAIN THE VOLTAGE GAIN AND OUPTPUT VOLTAGE ACROSS THE LOAD RESISTOR LOADING EFFECT OF INPUT IMPEDANCE • Input impedance of an amplifier can reduce the ac voltage appearing across the emitter diode. • Hence in practical amplifiers we need to consider the source resistance of an amplifier. INPUT IMPEDANCE • 𝑣𝑔 - ac vtg source • 𝑅𝐺 - internal resistance of 𝑣𝑔 • When ac source is not stiff then some of the ac source voltage is dropped across 𝑅𝐺 • This makes the voltage between the base and ground to be less than ideal • The ac source thus have to drive the i/p impedance 𝑧𝑖𝑛 (stage) • This i/p impedance takes includes the effect of the baising resistors 𝑅1 𝑅2 and i/p impedance of the base ( ) Expression of Input Voltage
• For source to be stiff it must follow the
100:1 rule i.e. 𝑅𝐺 < .01 𝑧𝑖𝑛 (stage) Q. For the circuit shown in the fig what is the o/p voltage if the β=300. soltn: Q. For the circuit shown in the fig what is the o/p voltage if the β=50. Q. For the circuit shown in the fig what is the o/p voltage if the β=50.
