1) The frequency response of LTI causal systems are given as follows. Determine their
corresponding difference equations to realize the systems.
2𝑒 𝑗𝜔
a) 𝐻(𝑒 𝑗𝜔 ) = j ∗ tan 𝜔 b) 𝐻(𝑒 𝑗𝜔 ) = cos 𝜔 c) 𝐻(𝑒 𝑗𝜔 ) = cos 2 𝜔 d) 𝐻(𝑒 𝑗𝜔 ) = 2−j2sin 𝜔
2) Determine the z-transform and its ROC for the following sequences.
1 |𝑛|
a) 𝑥(𝑛) = |𝑛| (2) c) 𝑥(𝑛) = (𝑛2 + 𝑛)2𝑛 𝑢(𝑛)
1 𝑛 𝜋𝑛
b) ℎ(𝑛) = (2) cos ( 4 ) 𝑢(𝑛) d) 𝑥(𝑛) = 𝑛 cos(𝜔𝑜 𝑛)𝑢(𝑛)

3) Determine the inverse of 𝑋(𝑍) = 6𝑍 −1 −5+𝑍 when the ROC is:
a) |𝑍| > 3 b) |𝑍| < 2 c) 2 < |𝑍| < 3
4) If a system is initially relaxed and characterized by LCCDE, 𝑦(𝑛) = 0.5𝑦(𝑛 − 1) + 𝑥(𝑛),
specify the ROC of the frequency response of the system (H(Z)) and determine the impulse
response or h (n) for the following conditions.
a) The system is causal b) The system is non-causal c) The system is stable
5) If 𝑥(𝑛) is the input to a system and ℎ(𝑛)is the impulse response of a system given as follows:
𝑥(𝑛) = 2𝛿(𝑛) − 𝛿(𝑛 − 1) + 4𝛿(𝑛 − 2) and ℎ(𝑛) = 𝛿(𝑛) + 2𝛿(𝑛 − 1) + 3𝛿(𝑛 − 3),
determine the response of the system y (n) using DFT,
a) Circular convolution b) 5-point linear convolution
6) Compute the 8-point DFT of the sequence 𝑥(𝑛) = [1, 1, 0, 2, 2, 0, 1, 2] using radix-2
decimation in time and decimation in frequency algorithms. Follow exactly the corresponding
signal flow graphs and keep track of all the intermediate quantities by putting them on the
diagrams.
