Research 7 Quarter 4 Module 1
Research 7 Quarter 4 Module 1
Scientists study the world and learn about how it works through a
process called the scientific method. They ask important questions and
search for the answers. Sometimes they make amazing discoveries!
There are times when a scientist is unable to answer his own question.
If he has taken good notes, another scientist may come along later and
use his notes to find the answer. Every now and then there is a new
knowledge discovered.
Have you ever tried probing on the things that arouse your
curiosity? Did you discover something? In your previous lesson, you
have learned about the steps in scientific method, did you apply the
steps? How did you solve the problem? Now that you are ready, it’s time
for you to know more about conducting scientific investigation by doing
the activity that follows.
Directions: Read and understand the scenarios below. Answer the guide
questions that follow. Write the answer in your answer sheet.
Liza and Lea were tasked by their research teacher to find out if okra
seeds will sprout in the absence or in the presence of sunlight. They
were given 10-days to observe the growth of Okra seeds and make
results out of their investigation. Find out if Liza and Lea followed and
applied the correct steps of scientific method in conducting scientific
investigations.
Liza’s Investigation
Liza collected two pots and put same amount of humus soil on it. She
labelled the pot as Pot A and Pot B. She planted 10-okra seeds on each
pot with approximate interval. She covered the Pot A with black cloth in
order not to expose the pot under the sun and let Pot B uncovered. She
placed the pots on their backyard, and she watered the pots regularly.
Below were the results of her investigation.
Lea’s Investigation
Lea collected two pots and put same amount of humus soil on it. She
labelled the pots as Pot A and Pot B. She planted 10-okra seeds on each
pot with approximate interval. She placed the pots on their backyard
and watered the pots regularly. Below were the results of her
investigation.
Identify the
problem/ How does the presence of sunlight affect the
Question: sprouting of okra seeds?
Hypothesis:
The presence of sunlight affects the sprouting of
okra seeds.
Experiment Stated in the paragraph.
Results
A total of 10 okra seeds sprouted in Pot A.
10 okra seeds sprouted in Pot B in the presence of
sunlight.
Conclusion The presence of sunlight affects the sprouting of
okra seed. Sunlight is an important agent or factor
that helps the sprouting or growth of an okra seed.
