Background:
A piecewise function is a mathematical function that is defined by different expressions or
rules on different intervals or "pieces" of its domain. Instead of having a single expression that
describes the function's behavior across its entire domain, a piecewise function breaks the domain
into distinct regions, and a different expression is used to describe the function's behavior within
each of these regions.
It is composed of two or more functions wherein each component function is defined on
different parts of the domain.
Example:

To sketch the graph of the function, we need to consider two (2) cases since we have two
functions that compose our given piecewise function. This time, it will be more convenient for us to
use the table of values since the domain for f(x) will be partitioned into two different intervals.
