TASK-BASED LEARNING

1. Pre-task (Introducing the topic and task)

● Objective: Students understand the topic and task while preparing the
necessary language.
● Activities:
1. Introduce the topic:
- Show the class the picture about holidays and ask:
■ "What activities do people usually do on holidays?"
- Students brainstorm and share their ideas.
2. Listen to an audio recording:
- Play a short recording describing the activities in the picture (e.g., "Mary is
reading a book; Jim is swimming.").
- Students answer questions:
■ "What is each person doing?"
■ "Are they working or on holiday?"
3. Explain the main task:

Tell students they will carry out a task related to describing holiday activities.

2. While-task (Task performance)

● Objective: Students practice using language by working in groups and

presenting.
● Activities:
1. Work in pairs or small groups:
- Each group discusses and answers the following questions:
■ "What other activities might people do on a holiday?"
■ "Describe what each person in the picture is doing in detail."
- Groups write down their answers and prepare a short presentation.
2. Present to the class:
- A representative from each group presents the activities of the characters in
the picture (e.g., "Jim is swimming, Mary is reading a book...").
- Other groups listen and ask follow-up questions.

3. Post-task (Language focus)

● Objective: Students review and correct their mistakes while consolidating

vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation.
● Activities:
1. Analyze errors:
- The teacher highlights common mistakes students made during the task
(e.g., incorrect grammar such as "he's" or mispronunciation of
"swimming").
- Students work with the teacher to correct the errors.
2. Language focus:
- Vocabulary: Introduce relevant words related to the topic (e.g., "reading,
swimming, playing cards").
- Grammar: Practice the Present Continuous tense.
■ Structure: S + is/am/are + V-ing.
■ Activity: Students write new sentences about their current activities (e.g., "I
am learning English.").
- Pronunciation: Practice the correct pronunciation of verbs ending in "-
ing."
3. Feedback and wrap-up:
- Ask students for their reflections on the task.
- Summarize the lesson and assign homework (e.g., write a short paragraph
about their family’s holiday activities).
