    PRAYERS FOR PEACE AND UNITY

    In these difficult times, we are called as a Christian community to pray to Our Savior,
    Jesus Christ for the restoration and healing that is needed in our country. Feel free to
    use these prayers privately or with your family.

    Prayer of St. Francis

    Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace;


    Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
    Where there is injury, pardon;
    Where there is doubt, faith;
    Where there is despair, hope;
    Where there is darkness, light;
    And where there is sadness, joy.
    O Divine Master,
    Grant that I may not so much seek
    To be consoled as to console;
    To be understood, as to understand;
    To be loved, as to love;
    For it is in giving that we receive,
    It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
    And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
    Amen.

    Prayer in Times of Suffering

    Dear Lord,
    Help me to remember in these troubled times
    The cross you carried for my sake,
    So that I may better carry mine
    And to help others do the same,
    As I offer up (whatever your concern or problem here) to you
    For the conversion of sinners
    For the forgiveness of sins
    In reparation for sins
    And for the salvation of souls. Amen
    Prayer After an Election

    God of all nations,


    Father of the human family,
    we give you thanks for the freedom we exercise
    and the many blessings of democracy we enjoy
    in these United States of America.

    We ask for your protection and guidance


    for all who devote themselves to the common good,
    working for justice and peace at home and around the world.

    We lift up all our duly elected leaders and public servants,


    those who will serve us as president, as legislators and judges,
    those in the military and law enforcement.
    Heal us from our differences and unite us, O Lord,
    with a common purpose, dedication, and commitment to achieve liberty and justice
    in the years ahead for all people,
    and especially those who are most vulnerable in our midst.
    Amen.

    Prayer for Faithful Citizenship

    Gracious and loving God, let your Spirit be with us (me) today. Hear our (my) prayers,
    and increase in us (me) the will to follow your Son Jesus. Help us (me) to draw on the
    resources of our (my) faith as we (I) use the opportunities of our democracy to shape a
    society more respectful of the life, dignity, and rights of the human person, especially
    the poor and vulnerable. We (I) ask this through Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and
    reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

    Prayer for the Nation

    O God, who arrange all things according to a wonderful design,


    graciously receive the prayers we pour out to you for our country, that,
    through the wisdom of its leaders and the integrity of its citizens,
    harmony and justice may be assured and lasting prosperity come with peace.
    Through Our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of
    the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
    For Those in Public Office

    Almighty ever-living God,


    in whose hand lies every human heart and the rights of peoples,
    look with favor, we pray,
    on those who govern with authority over us,
    that throughout the whole world
    the prosperity of peoples,
    the assurance of peace,
    and freedom of religion
    may though your gift be made secure.
    Through Our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of
    the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
