The proposed project, *Rural Trade Hubs: A Consolidation Project for

Rural Farmers' Products, aims to support small-scale farmers in Barangay
Tinago, Norala, South Cotabato, this proposed project will start on August 18.
2024 and will end in December 30, 2025, by establishing centralized hubs for
the collection, processing, and distribution of agricultural products. These
trade hubs will act as a resource for farmers, providing essential infrastructure
such as storage facilities, modern processing equipment, and direct market
linkages. By creating efficient, localized trade centers, the project seeks to
alleviate common barriers that rural farmers face, such as limited access to
larger markets and the lack of efficient storage and handling facilities, which
often reduce the quality and marketability of their products.

Currently, farmers in Barangay Tinago struggle with post-harvest losses,

limited market access, and insufficient resources for product processing and
storage. Without adequate infrastructure, farmers are forced to sell their
products at lower prices to intermediaries or risk product spoilage, impacting
their income and economic stability. This situation also limits their ability to
compete in larger markets, as they lack the means to add value to their
products or maintain consistent quality. The absence of a consolidated
marketplace and support network means that farmers are often isolated, with
limited knowledge of market demands, fair pricing, and effective marketing
strategies.

The propsed project Rural Trade Hubs addresses these critical issues by
providing a structured, centralized marketplace and essential tools for
processing, storage, and distribution. Through these trade hubs, farmers of
Barangay Tinago will gain better control over the quality and pricing of their
products, access training on sustainable production practices, and connect
directly with buyers and markets. By enhancing the resilience and productivity
of Barangay Tinago’s agricultural sector, this project aims to empower
farmers, reduce post-harvest losses, and promote long-term economic growth
and self-sufficiency within the rural community.

Objectives
Generally, the objective of this study is to establish rural trade hubs that
empower rural farmers and producers by providing them with direct market
access, reducing their reliance on intermediaries, and increasing their
profitability.
Particularly, this aims on the following objectives:
1. Improved direct access to larger markets through the establishment of
trade centers in key locations, enabling them to sell their goods at
reasonable rates.
2. Improved infrastructure in order to decrease post-harvest losses and
improve the flow of products.
3. Improved farmers ability in investing in their enterprises and increasing
productivity.
