important guidelines for safe and responsible use of computer:
1. Keep your system updated: To protect computer software and data from malware attacks, it is
essential to install and update operating system and antivirus software. You should have the most
recent virus definitions in the security programs.
2. Use Strong and Unique Passwords: A good and strong password must include a mix of capital
letters, small letters, numbers and special characters. You should not use easily guessable words
such as names or birthdays. You should not reveal your password to anyone.
3. Beware of Phishing Attacks: You should not click unnecessary links. Scammers pretend to be
official to trick you. Do not click weird links. Keep antivirus definitions file updated and scan
regularly.
4. Backup Your Data: You should backup your important data and programs regularly in a safe place
like an external hard drive, the cloud or another secure location. In this ways, if your computer
gets stolen or damaged, you will not loose important data and programs.
5. Use Secure Wifi Connection: Use strong passwords for your wifi and internet. Avoid using public
networks for private tasks like online banking.
6. Be Careful What You download: Always download apps, programs and files from reliable sources/
websites.
7. Adjust Privacy Settings: Use customized privacy settings on your social media apps and devices.
Limit sharing your info publicly.
8. Be Mindful of Public Wifi: Public wifi networks contain risk of cyberattacks. Avoid doing financial
transaction of public wifi networks.

details to any website.

1. Observing the Law: It means abiding by all legal requirements and copyright laws. Respect
software license, copyright and other intellectual property laws.
2. Ethical Use: It means avoiding malicious and unethical use of software. Do not use software to
harm and exploit others.
3. Intellectual Property: We must respect intellectual property rights when using software. There
are four types of intellectual property rights; copyrights, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets.
4. Be Aware of Licensing: We must be aware of licensing and obey the license terms and conditions
when using a software.
