METHODOLOGY

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the research methodology to be used in the study, the topic
for discussion which includes the identification and selection of source of data, research
instrument, validation of questionnaire, data gathering, procedure and statistical tool of
the study.

Research Design

This study will employ descriptive method of research as it complements the


nature of data investigated in the research process. This study employs purposive and
random sampling method looking into the target place and the total enumeration to the
positive and negative impacts of modular learning method at a learning method on the
mental health of selected grade seven and grade twelve students at Ligao National High
School. In seeking the answer about real facts concerning the subject matter which
relate to existing conditions, a set of structured questionnaires. The researchers will
look first into the respondent’s personal insight, knowledge their experiences. Second
will identify the difficulties encountered by the student in performing the modular
activities. Last part will identify the course of action to take as a solution to the problems
encountered by the grade seven and grade twelve student at Ligao National High
School during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sources of data

This study utilizes two sources of data which are called the primary and
secondary source. The primary source of data will be sourced out from random grade
seven and grade twelve students with the use of simple random sampling method. The
secondary source of data will be sourced out from the teacher, guidance counselor,
subject teacher and the department head.

Statistical tools
The findings of the study will statistically analyze and interpret through the use of
statistical tools.

Frequency Count SOP #1 The method that will be used by the researchers by which
the number of the responses and occurrences of the subject of the study will be
determined and it will be done by sampling one-by-one counting. It will be applicable to
use part one of the questionnaire for easy determination of the total number of the
respondents.

Percentage technique will be utilized as a tool by which the relative proportion of the
value for sub-group will determine by dividing the sum of the value of sub-group and
multiply those by 100. The formula in this technique will be.;

P=f/n* 100

P=is the percentage

equivalent F=frequency

n=total number

100= constant number

Mean= is the average of the numbers: a calculated "central" value of a set of numbers.
To calculate it: add all the numbers, then divide by how many numbers .

Research Instrument

A questionnaire will be the main instrument to be used in gathering the data. It


will be composed of three (3) parts. The first part will include the students’ profile of the
respondents. Second part will contain the problems encountered by the respondents.
Third part will consist of the courses of action taken as solution to the problems
encountered by the respondents.
Validation of Questionnaire

The validation of this research will be through the observation, survey and
interview guide questions by means of asking questions to the teachers, subject teacher
guidance counsellor and the department head of the school. Suggestion and the
comments will be given to make sure that the questionnaire is indeed and revision will
be made through the help of the research teacher.

Data Gathering Procedure

The distribution of the questionnaires will be in two methods by online and offline.
Online questionnaires will be distributed by the use of the Google application Google
Forms while offline will be a hard printed copy of the questionnaire. Fifty percent of
grade seven responses will be gathered online while the other fifty will be by printed
questionnaires same goes with the grade twelve respondents.

The gathering of data’s will be in two to three days, online and offline
questionnaires will be distributed simultaneously, online questionnaires link will be
posted on Facebook while printed questionnaires will be placed at Ligao National High
School LOT building. After a max period of three days the researchers will retrieve the
data’s and turn off the responses for analysis.
