Rationale:
Statics is cardinal for engineering as it addresses the various consequences of
forces. It looks at forces and reactions on stationary particles and bodies, making
it indispensable for the analysis and design of structural members, mechanical
components and electrical devices at rest or moving at constant velocity.
Course Objectives:
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
• Analyse forces acting on a stationary particle or body
• Apply the fundamentals of analysis of forces and moments in structural
members, mechanical and electrical elements often encountered in engineering
practice
