Assignment 6
Course Name : Engineering Surveying
Theodolite Traverse

‫ـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ‬

Question 1:

Find the sum of the included angles of the closed traverse if the number of sides is:
 Three sides

 Four sides

 Five sides

 Six sides

 Seven sides

Question 2:
What is the mean of :
1) Forward bearing of a line
2) Backward bearing of a line
3) Angle Misclosure
4) Linear Misclosure
5) Relative Error

Question 3:

1) What are the methods to adjust the Angle Misclosure?

2) What are the methods to adjust the Linear Misclosure?
Question 4:
A closed traverse ABCDE in which: AB = 134.64m, BC = 140.70m, CD = 95.60m, DE =
145.50m, EA = 57.30m, <CBA = 95° 19' 27'', <DCB = 115° 17' 48'', <EDC = 72° 23'16'',
<AED = 201° 43' 55'', <BAE = 55° 14' 39''. If the bearing of AB = 120° 32' 09'', coordinates
of point A are (500.00m, 1000.00m), the allowable angle misclosure = 70 √ and allowable
relative error 1:1000. Calculate the angle misclosure, the error ratio (relative error), and the
adjusted coordinates of points B, C, D, and E using the Bowditch method.

Question 5:

Calculate the adjusted coordinates of the following third-order class II traverse, if the
coordinates of point A are (500m, 1000m) and the allowable relative error equals 1:10000
(the traverse anti-clockwise). Calculate the area of the traverse.
