Sem-I [24-25] Total Points
Assignment No. 01
Class: FE 80

Aim: - Construct engineering curves by its specified method of drawing.

CO1: Draw the fundamental engineering objects using basic rules and able to construct the simple geometries.
CO2: Construct the various engineering curves using the drawing instrument.

Instructions:
1. Solve any TWO questions from Q1 and Q2 on A3 size paper.
2. Show the proper dimensions on the drawn features.
3. Draw the Title Box as per instructions on the rigth bottom of the sheet.
4. Text on the right of marks indicates course outcomes (only for faculty use).

Points COs
Q.1 Solve any TWO Conics.
a) Draw an ellipse by rectangular method when its major and minor axes are 120 mm and 80 mm respectively. 40 CO1

b) Draw a parabola by rectangular method when its major (axis) and minor (base) axes are 80 mm and 60 mm
respectively.
c) Draw a curve when the distance between focus and directrix is 50 mm and the eccentricity ratio is 2/3.
Name the curve.

d) Draw a curve when the distance between focus and directrix is 50 mm and the eccentricity ratio is 1. Name
the curve

e) Draw a curve when the distance between focus and directrix is 50 mm and the eccentricity ratio is 3/2.
Name the curve.

Q.2 Draw any TWO curves other than Conics.

a) Draw a helix on a cylinder of diameter 50 mm and axis height of 80 mm. 40 CO1

b) Draw an involute on a regular pentagon of 20 mm base side. (i) Draw it for string length equal to perimeter.
(ii) Draw with its string length 90 mm. (iii) Draw with its string length 130 mm

c) Draw an involute on a circle of diameter 40 mm. Take a string length equal to the perimeter of the circle.

d) Draw a cycloid on a circular wheel of diameter 40 mm when point ‘P’ is on the ground when the wheel
takes one complete turn.

e) A link OA of 100 mm rotates in a clockwise direction for a one convolution. Draw a curve traced by a point
'P' when it moves on a link from its outside end 'A' to center 'O' with a constant speed
