1.0 INTRODUCTION
This supplement contains interfacing and user information relating to the optional Room Power Kits
739349, 739557 (used with DIN power), 736791 (400/480Vac) and 739515 (208/240Vac). These kits
include a line to low voltage step down transformer, bridge rectifier and filter capacitor.
2.0 GENERAL
This option provides 24 VAC for collimator lamp power and 30 VDC unregulated power for room electro-
mechanical devices. The combined maximum power output from these two sources is 200 W continuous.
A low voltage transformer, rectifier and capacitor are located on the vertical wall of the upper generator
cabinet. The output terminal block is located in the upper cabinet in the room interface board area. Power
for the transformer is brought from the Power Input Board via fuses (F3 & F5) mounted on the lower
inside panel of the cabinet.
The primary side of the step-down transformer receives one phase of the 400 / 480 (or 208 / 240) VAC
line from the generator Power Input Board. This voltage is present whenever the AC Mains line is
switched ON. Two fuses located on the sidewall of the lower cabinet protect the transformer. The primary
side of the transformer has a 480V winding with a 400V tap or 240V winding with a 208V tap. The
appropriate tap must be used for the power line in use. The 24 VAC secondary side of the transformer
fans out to two destinations:
• Two terminals of the terminal block on the floor of the room interface area. This is the 24 VAC output.
• The AC terminals of the rectifier which provide the unregulated +30VDC
The DC side of the rectifier is connected to the filter capacitor and also to two more terminals of the
terminal block on the floor of the room interface area. These terminals are the DC output of about 34
VDC. A small resistor across the DC terminals ensures that the capacitor bleeds down when the
generator is turned off.

Confirm that the line-adjusting transformer is correctly tapped for the line voltage in use. The following
steps detail the procedure to do this, and to change the tap setting if required. Refer to figure 1. This
transformer is located above the room interface transformer in the upper generator cabinet.
1. Measure the voltage across the main line fuses in the generator.
2. Switch OFF the AC line voltage at the main disconnect switch. Allow sufficient time for all
capacitors in the generator to discharge. Open or remove the cover of the upper cabinet.
3. Set the primary and secondary taps according to Table 1 (Table 2 for transformer 73588900). For
added shock protection, place the empty insulated fast-on receptacle on the unused primary line
tap.
Ex. If your generator has an input line voltage of 400 VAC, set the primary tap on terminals
1 and 4 and the secondary tap on terminals 7 and 11.

The table below indicates the gauge and the maximum length allowed when wiring the collimator. Failure
to follow these recommendations may result in reduced voltage at the collimator lamp.
NOTE: The values in the table below are valid with the use of copper wire only.
